2014 Theme: Mole-O'Ween

Celebrated annually on October 23 from 6:02 a.m. to 6:02 p.m.

National Mole Day commemorates Avogadro's Number (6.02 x 1023), which is a basic measuring unit in chemistry. Schools throughout the United States and around the world celebrate Mole Day with various activities related to chemistry and/or moles.

Just Like 12 items make a dozen, 6.02 x 1023 atoms/molecules make a mole.

This number is called Avogadro’s number.

In general, one mole of any substance contains Avogadro's Number of molecules or atoms of that substance. This relationship was first discovered by Amadeo Avogadro (1776-1858) and he received credit for this after his death.

For a given molecule/atom, one mole contains 6.02 x 1023 . For example, one mole of water has 6.02 x 1023 molecules of water. One mole of gold has 6.02 x 1023 atoms of gold.

Also, the water molecule has a molar mass(atomic mass) of 18, therefore one mole of water weighs 18 grams. Similarly, a mole of goldweighs197 grams.

MOLE DAY PROJECT

Using the above information and researching more online complete any three activites to win the tic-tac-toe game. Activities must be diagonal, horizontal or vertical. Must print and use colors. Each activity must include at least 4 facts.
