1. Vocab. Find 4 words in the book that you do not know. Write them down. Beside each word, write a sentence explaining what the word might mean based on the context. Look up each word and write the real definition. (You may paraphrase.) / 2. Imagery. Find 5 awesome examples of imagery. Write the sentences from the book. You must find examples that appeal to at least 3 different senses. (Sight, sound, smell, taste, touch.) / 3. Banned Book.The Outsiders is one of the most-often banned books from middle school curriculum. Do you believe in reading banned books? Why or why not? If you say “It depends” explain what it depends on! (5 sentences at least.)4. Song. Pick a song that goes along with the book. Write your song’s title. Write a verse or a couple quotes from the song word for word. Explain why it fits the book (5 sentences at least.) / 5. Drama. Rewrite a scene from the book as a screenplay for a TV show. Include: scene set-up, camera angles, stage directions (action and emotion), dialogue, sound effects, etc. Feel free to change stuff! Just not too much. / 6. Top 10. Make a Top Ten list for The Outsiders. Pick one of the following: Top ten moments; top ten favorite characters in order (must include what you liked or disliked); Top ten ______(If you have your own idea, let me know. Ask first.)

Read the interview with S. E. Hinton starting on page 181.
