Biography Facebook Project
You and a partner will be selecting a person to research online (using a certain data base) in class for a biography project. Youmust select your person from the list and have it approved by me. These will be people who lived during William Shakespeare’s time and we will be bringing them to the 21st Century by giving them a fake Facebook page. You will be using class time May 23rd, 24th, and 25th to research and create your project. You will be doing this in Powerpoint. The final project needs to be completed and saved in my file by Friday, May 25th.
Research – You will be turning this in with your rubric.
You must answer all questions on page 7 of your packet. Make sure I can read your answers or you will not get full credit. You will be using a school data base to find your information. The directions are as follows:
- On the school website, click on the library link.
- Look at the links on the left hand side of the library page. Click on the one labeled “Online Databases”.
- Once on this page, click on the link labeled “Info Trac”, click “proceed” when prompted to do so.
- Once on this page, scroll down until you see “Gale biography in context”. There is a picture of JFK. Click on that link.
- There is a search engine at the top of this page where you can search by name, occupation, nationality, birth place or death place. Look through the “related links” to find facebook friends.
Facebook Powerpoint-
Your facebook page will include 4 tabs: Wall, Info, Photos and Pages. It will also include a final slide where you will cite your work.
Wall: This is where you will have a “status update”, messages from other people that are relevant to your person, etc. Your “status update” should reflect a time that was important in his/her life.
- Info: You will include basic information here about your person. You can include religion, political affiliation, interests and hobbies, books, and things they like. Remember, if you can’t find the information, make an inference!
Photos: These need to be appropriate and relevant to your person. They should be of his/her family, friends, important events in his/her life, historical events, etc.
Pages: Your Powerpoint will include a Timeline under the “Pages” tab-You will be selecting 6 different important events from your person’s life and writing them in complete sentences. Along with each event, you must include the date that it happened. You also need to write the birth date and death date.
- Works Cited:You must include a page at the end of the presentation that lists the websites where you found your information and pictures. You can copy and paste the URL address.
Presentation-
May29thand 30thyou will be giving a short presentation on your person using your facebook Powerpoint.
