REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI)-6

Q1: Drawings indicate tying up existing light fixture to allow for existing ceilings to be removed. If the existing fixture does not work or is damaged what is the procedure?

A1: Refer to Project’s Specification, Section 02 41 00, para 1.3 for further guidance, but also, refer to Project’s Drawing Set, Sheet A-001; Note #1 and Sheet E-001; Note #11.

Q2: E-drawings indicate contractor to provide updated panelboard directories. Does this only include updates to new breakers/equipment added on this project or update existing circuits also. In the walk through it was indicated that a lot of the panelboard schedules are not accurate.

A2: Refer to Project’s Drawing Set, Sheet E-001; Note #23.

Q3: Where ceilings are being removed is the contractor responsible for strapping existing conduit and cables per NEC?

A3: Yes. Refer to Project’s Drawing Set, Sheet E-001; Note #1.

Q3a: During the site visit on 21 July 2015, there was a discussion of the north and south walls being demoed in room M108 on the second floor. In accordance with Sheet A-103 of the drawings provided, only the south wall is to be demoed. Please advise if only the south wall is to be demoed.

A3a: Execution per Project’s Drawing Set and its Specifications.

Q4: In accordance with Sheet A-106 of the drawings provided, Rm. 348 is to have its ACT Ceiling demoed. During the site visit on 21 July 2015, it was discovered this room does not in fact have an ACT Ceiling.

A4: DEMO existing ceiling per Sheet A-106, Note 2. Install ceiling per NEW WORK PLAN as per Sheet A-116 and Sheet A-001 Finish Schedule. (Refer to Project’s Drawing Set)

Q4a: In accordance with Sheet A-116, Rm. 348 is scheduled to receive an ACT Ceiling. If this room is in fact to receive an ACT Ceiling, the fire suppression piping, sprinkler heads, and HVAC Duct work will have to be relocated (Work shall be performed IAW Project’s Drawing, Sheet M-001 and Sheet E-001). Please advise if Rm. 348 is to receive an ACT Ceiling or is to remain an exposed ceiling.

A4a: DEMO existing ceiling per Sheet A-106, Note 2. Install ceiling per NEW WORK PLAN as per Sheet A-116 and Sheet A-001 Finish Schedule. (Refer to Project’s Drawing Set).

Q5: Will the contractor be allowed to reuse the existing ceiling wires for the ACT Ceiling?

A5: No.For further details, Refer to Project’s Drawing Set, Sheet E-001, General Notes; Note #2 and 8, DEMO PLANS Legend.

Q6: Please advise of the projects period of performance. Does the period of performance include lead time for all trades?

A6: Refer to Section 01 32 01.00 10, Project Schedule, para 3.1.1 and 3.1.2 for further guidance. (Reference: Project’s Specification)

Q7: There is peeling paint in many areas. Based on age of the building there is a good chance it might be lead based paint. Is there a lead based paint inspection report done by environmental department that we can have to avoid those areas? What if the areas cannot be avoided?

A7: Refer to Section 01 35 26, Part 3 Execution, para 3.1.3 Unforeseen Hazardous Material. In addition, Sections 01 57 20.00 10 and 01 57 20.01 shall provide further guidance.

Q8: In many areas where ACT ceiling tile is to be replaced there are many tiles that have been damaged by water or other hidden issues, It is difficult on a short walk through to identify why the ceiling is damaged/discolored. Will the contractor be responsible for making repairs if needed to stop water damage to the new ACT ceiling tiles?

A8: Refer to Section 01 11 00, para 1.3 Existing Work for further guidance.

Q9: Based on water soaked ceiling tiles there may be mold that is not visible until demo starts. If found will the base remediate or will contractor be expected to properly remove?
