2:00 pm – 10:00 pm Suggested weekly schedule

Position Purpose: Responsible for providing a safe, clean and well maintained environment for the parish ministry. This includes parish facilities security, maintenance in a manner that supports the parish mission.*

Specific Areas of Responsibility

1.  Daily walk-through with an eye for monitoring the safety, cleanliness, stocking supplies, and miscellaneous repairs.

2.  Complete the cleaning and maintenance schedules

3.  Keep an open eye for unusual activity or behaviors and do a walk through before you leave to ensure all security measures are in place.

4.  Monitor the doors to ensure they are secure and working properly.

5.  Review the monthly cleaning and preventive maintenance checklist and ensure that it is completed.

6.  Weekly review of the kitchen for cleanliness and ensuring that all equipment is in working order.

7.  Regularly review the master calendar and ensure spaces are set up as needed or requested.

8.  Keep equipment in good repair or request a work order

9.  Work with the parish secretary or the business administrator to keep a supply of the needed maintenance supplies and parts in stock.

10.  Set up for events

11.  Oversee and participate in the care and maintenance of grounds, (all seasons), lawns, trees, shrubs, snow removal, etc. Note any deficiencies of hired services so they can be addressed.

12.  Attend, and participate in the facilities meetings & staff meetings.

13.  Attend the annual insurance seminar provided by the Archdiocese

14.  Work with vendors and contractors as directed and/or needed.

15.  Keep an open eye for improvement in efficiency, costs or service.

16.  Includes additional tasks as identified by the Pastor and/or the Business Administrator

Qualifications

·  Demonstrate experience with safety regulations and codes.

·  Experienced in use of cleaning materials, procedures for clean up, and disposal of hazardous waste.

·  Experience in methods and operations of scrubbing, cleaning, painting, small building and equipment

·  Skilled in operating power equipment such as lawnmower and snow blower, etc.

·  Successfully complete standard Archdiocesan background checks.

·  Successfully complete Enhanced 3 training.

·  Successfully complete pre-employment physical as required by employer.

Mental Demands.

·  Ability to be pleasant and service-oriented even when exposed to difficult influence

·  Recommend and develop methods to improve the custodial department and organization.

·  Ability to work under pressure with interruptions.

·  Confidentiality, Integrity and Honesty.

·  Communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Possess a sense of order and an eye for detail. Ability to prioritize duties and tasks.

·  Possess a willingness to learn new skills or tasks as assigned.

Physical Demands

·  Ability to physically perform the tasks as required including but not limited to climbing ladders, changing ceiling light bulbs, washing windows.

·  Lifting, moving, and carrying 25 to 50 lbs.

·  Ability to walk up and down stairs.

·  Ability to kneel or squat for long periods of time.

·  Bending, stretching, standing for long periods of time.
