Job title: Development Officer

Reports to: Operations Manager

Responsible for: Volunteers

Location: Home based

Salary: £21,000 per annum, pro rata for part time post

Hours: Rosie's Trust provides a 7 day service. Four years 6-month term contract.

To work within the area covered by (overlapping when required):

  • Belfast Health and Social Care Trust and South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust –21 hours per week
  • Southern Health and Social Care Trust developing into Western Health and Social Care Trust –35 hours per week

Job purpose: To maximise Rosie’s Trust service provision through volunteer engagement; raising awareness of the charity and developing opportunities for income generation.

Main Responsibilities

Volunteer engagement

  • Recruit, induct, train, support and manage volunteers
  • Coordinate and administer Access NI checks where necessary
  • Ensure Rosie's Trust safeguarding responsibilities and policies are met
  • Ensure an excellent standard of customer service providing a positive experience to volunteers
  • Implement and develop evaluation processes to monitor and improve the impact of volunteering
  • Develop and implement volunteer policies and procedures to ensure adherence to relevant legislation and Rosie’s Trust policies

Service delivery and business development

  • Develop and implement agreed regional plans to maximise service delivery
  • Develop and implement initiatives that support the growth of income in line with the fundraising strategy
  • Manage and strengthen relationships with partner organisations within region
  • Deliver presentations and attend meetings to engage with stakeholders

Recognition and engagement

  • Ensure all correspondence with supporters including donation acknowledgements is managed and recorded in a timely manner
  • Effectively thank and recognise volunteers for their contribution to the organisation
  • Organise volunteernetworking opportunities to share experiences and feedback on their experiences

Ensure effective communication

  • Maximise the promotion of the work of Rosie’s Trust through various social media platforms and other media channels
  • Provide a monthly activity and progress report to line manager

Other

  • The post holder will be expected to carry out such other duties as are commensurate with the responsibilities of the post
  • To comply with organisation’s policies and procedures
  • Be available to work at weekends and evenings, as and when required
  • This is a regulated position, an enhanced disclosure will be required

Person specification

Essential:

  • A minimum of two years’ experience of volunteer management/supervision
  • Experience of volunteer recruitment, induction and training processes
  • Ability to develop positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience of implementing and delivering operational plans
  • Ability to work as part of team / own initiative
  • Excellent customer care skills when handling enquiries and calls
  • Ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences both verbally and in writing
  • Confident in the use of Microsoft Office packages and knowledge of data entry
  • Plan and prioritise own varied and demanding workloads applying effective time management skills to ensure deadlines are met
  • Understand and comply with all relevant legislation, keeping abreast of changes in voluntary sector governance
  • Flexible approach to working hours
  • Valid driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of the animal welfare
  • Knowledge of the health and social care environment
