Dear Readers:
Our first meeting of the fall term brought several requests for scheduling changes. While we all crave routine, the reality is our parish is growing and changing. Disruptions in scheduling are inevitable and require flexibility on everyone’s part. Between Encounter events, Adoration, and Women’s Fellowship, we are hard pressed to find dates which work for most of our members. We want everyone to have as much notice as possible regarding our meeting dates/times, as well as the scheduled books. To that end we have come up with the following schedule for the end of 2017. Please review it carefully as dates have changed from the previous emails.
September 27th beginning at 7:00 p.m. Hillbilly Elegy by JD Vance
October 26th beginning at 7:00 p.m. Still Life by Louise Penny*
November 1st beginning at 7:00 p.m. Have a Little Faith by Mitch Albom
December 6th beginning at 6:30 p.m. Belgravia by Julian Fellowes
*Please note this book is difficult to find as it is the first in a series. There are 3 audio recordings available at the St. Louis County Library and may be downloaded if you use a Kindle. There are also copies available on Amazon
I realize how shortthe turnaround from the October to November meeting is however, if we are going to make a transition, this book provides the best opportunity as it is an easy read, relatively short and readily available at the St. Louis County library. Hopefully with advanced notice this will not prove to be too much of problem.
Every effort has been made to accommodate as many schedules as possible; regardless, the reality is the new schedule will not fit everyone’s needs. I encourage members who cannot meet on the revised schedule to contact me and we will see if we can find enough interested parties to create a second book club time perhaps during the daytime hours or with alternative dates.
Your participation is appreciated.
Rita O’Brien
