SUPPORT OUR FAMILIES

Our Chef-for-a-Day program is a great way to make a generous contribution of your

time and talent in support of our families.

These guidelines will help your group plan a fun time at the Ronald McDonald House of Central Pa.®

GETTING STARTED

Get a group of 8 people or less together and log on to http://www.takethemameal.com/meals.php?t=HGJB1148 to schedule a date and meal.

Since we frequently have immune suppressed children using the House, we are very concerned about spreading infections disease. We ask that you don’t come to the House if you have been exposed to chicken pox or measles within the past three weeks prior to your visit, or if you have a cold, flu, or virus.

PLANNING YOUR MEAL

Decide what you would like to make. Please bring a well-rounded menu (i.e. salad and main dish); dessert is optional. Beverages such as juice, milk, and bottled water, individual servings of soda or tea are sincerely appreciated. Anything that can be stored and easily heated is best since some families may be at the hospital during the mealtime.

PLANNING ACCORDINGLY

Our average, occupancy is approximately 70 people for dinner and 40 people for breakfast/brunch, so please plan on providing food accordingly. If your group would like to stay for your meal, make sure to prepare additional servings.

SERVING TIMES

BUFFET-STYLE

We serve meals buffet-style in the dining area so that our families are able to serve themselves. Please don’t be disappointed if only a few of the families come to your meal. Our families spend a majority of their time at the hospital and often return to the House to enjoy your meal later in the evening.

HAVE FUN

The most important part of being a Chef is to...HAVE FUN! Feel free to incorporate themes and decorations into your meal plan. We also encourage you to stay and eat with the families if time allows, but please do not feel obligated. Families do enjoy your company and appreciate your thoughtfulness.

CLEANING UP

Cleaning up after your meal is sincerely appreciated. At the conclusion of your mealtime, you may begin cleanup of the serving area which includes packing and labeling leftovers, washing pots and pans, and cleaning the countertops.

•  Dinner: 5 - 6pm

•Breakfast/Brunch: 9 am-10am

When you provide a meal for our families, you are affording them precious time with their sick child. Our Chef-for-a-Day program eases the burden on families who don’t have to spend time grocery shopping or cooking.
