Dear Applicant

Re: Director Policy, Strategy and Communication

Thank you for taking an interest in the role of Director; Policy, Strategy and Communication here at West Yorkshire Combined Authority. Exciting things are happening in Leeds City Region and I’m delighted that you are interested in being part of them.

Our organisation is the driving force behind local partners’ collective efforts to make the Leeds City Region known globally as a place of economic success and an outstanding quality of life. Our three core goals are:

  • ‘boosting productivity’ – of our large SME business case through encouraging innovation, trade, and putting in place infrastructure;
  • ‘enabling inclusive growth’ – ensuring the widest range of people and places are able to contribute to, and benefit from, economic prosperity;
  • delivering 21st century transport – connecting our citizens and businesses to the opportunities and essential services they need.

Over the last year, on behalf of the Combined Authority and LEP Boards, we’ve driven forward projects, programmes and services that have had a big impact on the Leeds City Region. But this is just the beginning. We want to show our partners what we’ve already achieved but, more importantly, what we plan to deliver in the next 12 months and how this will contribute towards inclusive growth in the City Region.

Leading the Policy, Strategy and Communications Directorate, you will be at the forefront of leading thinking and securing funding for the city region. You will have a role that will have a direct impact on projects that make life here better – through interventions in education, skills, employment, business growth, local and strategic transport. You will be improving the place we call home.

If you’re passionate about making a difference to the people of Leeds City Region then we want to hear from you.

Good luck with your application. If you would like to have an informal chat about the role, please contact our advising consultants at GatenbySanderson.

Yours sincerely

Ben Still
