Dear Parents,

I would like to welcome your child to my first grade class. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at the BethelSchool. I will try my best to provide your child with a fun, meaningful and rewarding school experience.

Our 6-day cycle special class schedule is as follows:

Day 1-music

Day 2- gym

Day 3- computer

Day 4- music

Day 5- library

Day 6- art

Please remember to wear sneakers for gym and “weather appropriate” clothing as sometimes they will go outside. Also, your child will be bringing home library books throughout the year. Please make sure he/she reads these books and returns them to school for library on Day 5.

The students will be given a take-home folder on the first day of school. The take-home folder will be sent home every night. There should be a “leave at home” side and a “bring back” side. Please be sure to check these every night. Later, students will be bringing homework home in these folders. I will check them every morning, so they are a great place to put important notes as well.

You willalso notice a weekly behavior sheet in the take-home folder every evening. The students color in the square every day according to their behavior for that day.

Green- had a great day, no problems.

No color-students had a warning only.

Yellow- students will lose 5 minutes of recess.

Red- students will lose all of their recess and you will be notified.

This sheet must be kept in their folder all week, you will receive a new sheet every Monday.

We will have snack every day, for the first week of school, I will provide a snack for the kids. Beginning in September, I will send home a new snack calendar every month. Please do not send in candy, the children will not be permitted to have candy for a snack.

Lastly, you will receive a weekly newsletter so you know what your child has done and what is coming up. I may add a

“Teacher’s Wish List,” this is just a list of suggestions if you would like to contribute to our classroom.

I look forward to working with you and your child this year. Your cooperation will help your child’s year be a successful one.
