POLICY FOR COMMUNITY LIFE STANDARDS

Welcome to Ottawa Valley Pentecostal Camp. We hope you enjoy your visit with us. Please advise the camp office if you require any assistance. We would ask that you take a few minutes to read the following items together with your family or group.

MISSION STATEMENT:

The CampCommittee and Advisory Council supports the Ottawa Valley Camp Mission and Vision Statements. Ottawa Valley Pentecostal Camp exists to assist our churches in their Biblical mandate to proclaim the full gospel and make disciples.

VISION STATEMENT:

Ottawa Valley Pentecostal Camp’s vision is to Serve, Share and Stimulate in a spirit of excellence, Christian love and the fruit of the spirit.

EXPECTATIONS OF CAMPLIFE:

The camp expects every member of the community (residents, guests and visitors) to adhere to the following principles and guidelines which are to be considered as both privileges and responsibilities of life in this Christian community. Each member should seek to fulfill the following:

SPIRITUAL EXPECTATIONS:

  1. Participate actively by regular attendance in the camp services
  2. Support the camp financially
  3. Spend time each day in personal Bible study and prayer
  4. Seek opportunities for Christian service
  5. Act in positive ways, exhibiting such biblical behaviour as love, joy, peace, patience, meekness, self control, gentleness and sensitivity to the Holy Spirit
  6. Actively guard against attitudes such as greed, jealousy, pride, lust, bitterness, needless anger, and an unforgiving spirit. In short, present one’s self to God as a holy living sacrifice

SOCIAL EXPECTATIONS:

  1. Respect the rights of others and cultivate those attitudes and behaviours which encourage healthy social interaction, including respect for the privacy and property of others in the Ottawa Valley Pentecostal Camp community
  2. Do right and be fair in dealing with one another
  3. Seek actively to help those who are in need

REGISTRATION:

All persons staying in Ottawa Valley Pentecostal Camp accommodations,or renting an on-site privately owned recreational vehicle, are required to register at the office on arrival and at the time of their departure. This will assist us in locating persons in the event of an emergency. All tents and recreational vehicles must be located in their respective designated areas

During the week of Youth Camp, individuals staying on the grounds, who are between the ages of 14 – 19 inclusively, are required to register for Youth Camp. This is required regardless of the number of days the individual is staying. All registered teens are required to be part of the entire Youth Camp program and are required to comply with Youth Camp rules

TRAFFIC AND SAFETY:

In the interest of personal safety, motor vehicles must be parked at the place of accommodation or in designated parking areas. A speed limit of 15 KPH must be obeyed at all times. All motorists are requested to drive carefully at all times to insure the safety of others. Motorcycles must be parked and left at the place of accommodation. All drivers must be licensed.

NOTE: PLEASE STAY ON ROADWAYS. GRASSY AREAS MAY CONTAIN SEPTIC BEDS OR PIPES WHICH COULD BE DAMAGED BY VEHICLE WEIGHT

CONDUCT ON CAMPGROUNDS:

In keeping with the highest Christian standards we are pleased to offer a camp environment free fromSmoking, Alcohol or Non Medical Drugs. Therefore use of alcoholic beverages, tobacco and non-medical narcotics or hallucinogenic drugs (including marijuana) is prohibited. Persons are expected to conduct themselves in a Christian-like manner, removed from stealing, profanity, pornography, all forms of dishonesty and sexual immorality including pre-marital sex and homosexuality.

DRESS CODE:

Attire appropriate to high Christian standards must be worn at all times. All residents, guests and visitors must refrain from wearing provocative apparel. Suitable clothing must be worn over bathing suits while traveling to and from the beach. Bikinis or immodest swim wear is not acceptable attire at any time for men or women.

SWIMMING AND SPORTS:

Swimming, boating, fishing and use of beach area is prohibited during all Family Campservices. On Sundays, waterfront activities are allowed only between 1:00 and 5:00 p.m. throughout the entire camping season.Children 12 years of age and under must be supervised by an adult while swimming or playing on the beach areas.

SAFETY AND CHILDREN:

Parents and/or guardians are responsible for the safety of their children at all times. Children may not leave the grounds unescorted at any time.

CURFEW:

Quiet time is 11:00 p.m. and curfew is 12:00 a.m. (or subject to Camp Director’s discretion)

RESTRICTED AREAS:

Please respect the privacy of leaseholders by refraining from walking between recreational vehicle sites. Please use roadways. NOTE: RAILWAY TRACKS ARE OUT OF BOUNDS

ACCOMMODATIONS:

Individuals staying in accommodations overnight, who are 19 years of age or younger, are required to be chaperoned by an adult (20+ years of age). This chaperone is not someone with whom the younger individual is in a romantic relationship. Co-ed overnight stays are not permitted unless there is a parent or guardian who is chaperoning the accommodations.

FIRE ARMS AND FIRE WORKS:

The carrying of and discharging of firearms on the camp property is strictly prohibited. The use of fireworks (including firecrackers) is prohibited. Any fire works use shall be under the supervision of the Camp Director.

SANITATION:

In an effort to keep our grounds looking beautiful,all household garbage must be in securely tied plastic bags and placed in the designated dumpster. All cardboard, cans, plastics, glass and cardboard must be placed in the appropriate recycling bins near the tracks. Leaves, branches etc should be taken to the designated area. Under no circumstances should garbage, leaves, branches, grass or debris be left along the lakeshore or on the campgrounds.

PETS:

All pets must be registered at the camp office, and current proof of rabies vaccination for dogs must be kept on file in the office. Pets must be kept on a leash at all times. Owners are responsible to pick up after their pets and to ensure that they not be a disturbance to neighbours. Pets are not permitted in camp owned accommodations. Dogs must not be left alone in a recreational vehicle if the dog is prone to barking.

NOTE: PETS ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THE BEACH OR THE IMMEDIATE BEACH AREA.

SALESPERSONS:

Door-to-door soliciting and selling of literature or any commodity is not permitted.

LIABILITY:

Ottawa Valley Pentecostal Camp is not responsible for personal injury and loss or damage to private property or personal belongings. Persons responsible for willful damage to camp property will be required to reimburse the camp.

Please note that our water system meets or exceeds Provincial Standards for Safe Drinking Water.
