Orinda Aquatics 2012 Collegiate Recap
Recap
Orinda Aquatics had 27 swimmers competing for collegiate teams across the country. They carried on a tradition of excellence in academics, character, leadership, and team commitment, and they continued to develop as swimmers (yellow highlight shows a lifetime best time) and athletes. They broke collegiate records (see notes below) and helped their teams win Conference (Courtney Whyte – Notre Dame, Brooke Woodward – Emory University, Aly Levine – Williams, and Sloan Caldwell – Claremont McKenna) and National titles (Brooke Woodward – Emory University). We could not be more proud of each of them.
National Connection: Brooke Woodward earned All-American honors in addition to two Honorable Mentions swimming as a member of the Emory Eagle Division III National Championship Team which one its third consecutive title (only the second team in DIII history to have accomplished this), and Coach Jon Behnke’s Denison team won its second straight Men’s Division III title. Kristen Lewis, an OA Alum and past member of the UCLA Women’s Swim Team is currently an Assistant coach for UC Berkeley’s Women’s Swimming and Diving Championship which just earned back to back NCAA D1 National Championships. Congratulations to those swimmers and all of our OA alumni.
