Kindergarten Notes 2017-2018

  • Staggered Entry Day :

The Kindergarten student comes only once, for school, during the staggered entry week (August 28- 31, 2017). They will be at school from 9:00-3:00. Parents/guardians MUST bring them to school the morning of their staggered entry day.

Sign in Table (You will see it as you walk into front door of the school.)

  1. Bring your child to the table. A nametag will be placed on your child and a second nametag will be given to the Kindergarten teacher who will assess them for the day. Give your child a hug and say good-bye to them at that time. The Kindergarten teacher will take them to their classroom.
  2. Parents will also get a nametag with their child’s name on it, to put on the child’s transportation form. The formMUST be filled out BEFORE you leave the building. The top of the form is for the way that the child will get home on that staggered entry day and the bottom of the form states the way that they will go home on their first day of school/the rest of the school year. Bus numbers/colors and carpool tag numbers must be filled out on these forms, so please be aware of those details before you bring your child to school on their staggered entry day. Please place the COMPLETED forms in a designated basket before you leave the building. All carpool and bus riding rules begin that day.
  1. Carpool

- We are encouraging ALL families to get a carpool tag number this year. This is for emergency situations like an unexpected early release day due to inclement weather, etc. If you already have a carpool number from previous years because there is an older sibling, you will keep the same number, but you must still fill out a new form for this 2017-2018 school year.

- At the end of the day Kindergarten carpool students, in a group, are escorted to the cafeteria by Kindergarten teachers who will stay with them and help them listen for their carpool number. Their carpool number will be called and they, with the help of many teachers/additional staff members, will proceed out of the cafeteria to a designated spot in the carpool loop. As the driver in the carpool line, you will followthe direction of the staff members who are directing the traffic and meet your child at that spot. The door will be opened for your child to get in the car. You need to remain in your car throughout the carpool line, refraining from cell phone use, and your child needs to buckle himself or herself into the car seat. Please practice this with your child before they come to school on their staggered entry day. All of the above procedures have been put into place for the love of, and safety and well-being of each and every person here at A.B.Combs.

  1. Bus

- At the end of the day, Kindergarten bus riders are escorted by Kindergarten teacher to their specific bus. They will sit in the front of the bus and the bus driver will be notified, at that time, as to the identity of the Kindergarten students.

- *If your child rides the bus home, at least for the first week or two of school, please be at the bus stop 10-20 minutes before you anticipate the bus bringing your child, from school, to the bus stop. The bus drivers will not leave an unattended Kindergarten child at a bus stop, so please be there on time.

c. Walkers

- Walkers will be released at 3:00 at one of two locations. These places are at opposite ends of the school. Your child’s location is determined by their legal address. A “Walker” form MUST completed and on file in the school before “Walking Children” will be released.

Location 1. It faces Lorimer Road at the covered steps that lead into the Kindergarten hallway. There will be a staff member at this location with a check list so that each child will delivered into the hands of a person officially designated for “pick-up”.

Location 2. It is at the end of the first grade hallway which leads out to back playground in front of the Fourth Grade Palace. The Fourth Grade Palace is the largest cottage at the back of our campus.

**Lunch for Staggered Entry Day**

If you can it would be helpful if your child could bring a lunch from home that day. That way they can get used to being in the cafeteria before they tackle going through the lunch line with their number.

  • Meet the Teacher Day (Friday, September 1, 2017from 1:00-2:00 PM)

-On Thursday (August 31, 2017) afternoon, you will get a telephone call from your child’s Kindergarten teacher for the 2017-2018 school year. At that time you will get room number information and details about our Kindergarten Meet the Teacher opportunity in your child’s classroom.

-This will be from 1:00-2:00 PM. We will have to end the visitation promptly at 2:00 to allow for an orderly and safe dismissal for the rest of our student body. To ensure the safety of our students this year, our school policy for dismissal is that the front doors of the school will be locked at 2:30 and will stay that way until dismissal is completed.

-Please bring supplies and completed forms from the school information packets. Please note that Media and video are only used for educational purposes in Kindergarten, such as educational websites, class websites, etc. We just want parents to be aware of this before they complete those forms. *If you are unable to attend the Meet the Teacher Hour, then please bring your child’s supplies to school on the first day of school which will be Tuesday, September 5, 2017.

  • Kindergarten TIDBITS

-Arrival: We, respectfully ask that, if you are bringing/walking your child to school each day, that you only walk your child into the building, to their classroom, on the first full day only. There are MANY staff members positioned along the hallways, ESPECIALLY during the first two weeks of school, to help and assist our new and younger students find their way.

-Volunteers: You are a very important part of our kindergarten experience here at Combs. We love and appreciate our parents who are willing and able to come and help us out. Per Wake County policy all volunteers who chaperone on field trips or supervise children individually must be registered as a volunteer. Computers will be set up in our Media Center for you to complete your registration process, beginning Monday, August 28, between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00PM.

-Dismissal: Doors of the school are locked at 2:30. Children are not to be checked out between 2:30 and 3:00.

  1. 校 车

- 放 学的时候，所有乘坐校车的学生会由kindergarten 的老师带他们到指定的校车。他 们会坐在校车的最前面一排，老师会告诉校车司机每个孩子的名字。

Notas para Jardín de infantes 2017-2018

Día de entrada retrasada

El estudiante de jardín de infantes llega una sola vezal colegio, durante la semana de entrada escolar (agosto 28 a agosto 31, 2017). Estarán en el colegio de 9:00-3:00. Los padres tienen que llevar los estudiantes a la escuela el día apropiado de entrada retrasada.

La mesa de registraciónestará a la entrada del colegio

1. Lleve a su hijo a la mesa de registración. Se le colocará un nombre a su hijo y un segundo nombre se le dará a la maestra de Kindergarten que lo evaluará durante el día. Dele a su hijo un abrazo y despídase por el momento. La maestra de Kindergarten lo llevará a su aula.

2. Se les dara a los padres un papel que se trata del transporte. Esta formadebe ser completadaantesque los padres salgan del colegio. a.Carpool

Día de conocer al maestro (viernes, 01 de septiembre de 2017de 13:00-14:00)

-En la tarde del jueves (01 de septiembre de 2018), usted recibirá una llamada de teléfono del maestro de jardín de la infancia de su hijo para el año 2017-2018. En aquel momento usted recibirá información de número de habitación y detalles sobre nuestro jardín de la infancia y la oportunidad de conocer al profesor en el aula de su hijo.

-Este evento será de 1:00-2:00pm. Tendremos que poner fin a la visita puntualmente a las 2:00 para permitir una salida ordenada y segura para el resto de nuestros alumnos. Para garantizar la seguridad de nuestros estudiantes este año, los reglamentos del colegio para las salida es que las puertas de la escuela estarán cerradas con llave a las 2:30 y permanecerán así hasta que se complete el despido.

-Favor de traer suministros y formas completadas de los paquetes de información de la escuela.
