Orientation and Movement

In Alice create the following scenes and add methods as directed for animation:

1.  Snowpeople:

Create a snow people world. Three snow people are outdoors on a snow-covered landscape.

The story:

²  A snowman is trying to meet a snowwoman who is talking with a friend (another snowwoman.)

²  The snowman tries to get her attention.

²  He turns to face the snowwoman and says “Ahem”

²  She turns to look at the snowman and he blinks his eyes at her.

²  She blushes (her head turns red).

²  She is not interested in meeting him. She gives him a “cold shoulder” and turns back to talk with her friend.

²  He hangs his head in disappointment and turns away.

2.  Circling Fish:

Create an island world with a fish in the water. (You may use the scene you have already created with the goldfish)

The story:

²  Write a program that has the fish swim around in a circle in front of the island.

²  Have the fish swim around the island. (You may want to have the fish move asSeenBy the island.

²  Have the fish jump out of the water and them dive down into the water.

²  The final scene should look similar to the beginning scene.

3.  Tortoise Gets a Cookie

Create a world having a tortoise (Animals), a stool (Furniture) and a cookie (Kitchen/Food). Put the cookie on top of the stool. Position the tortoise and the stool side by side.

²  Add these to the Events section in the top right. Use the move method to move the tortoise 2 meters away from the stool.

²  You will have to create a new Event in the Events section. Use the turnToFace method to be sure the tortoise is facing the stool.

²  Write a program to move the tortoise back to the stool to get the cookie.

²  Have the tortoise show its thanks by looking at the camera and waving an arm.

4.  Magnet Fun

Create a world where Mana (people) has a magnet (objects) held out in her left hand. Add five metallic objects (objects) of your choice to the world.

The story:

²  One by one have Mana point to the magnet to an object.

²  As she points the magnet, have the object move to the magnet.

²  When she points towards the last object which should be the largest, she is pulled toward it and says something like “Whoa” or “Yikes!” Hint: you will have to orient the magnet to her hand. They will both move at the same time.
