Loss of the right to study because of neglecting to register and restoration of the right to study

A student who has not registered as attending or non-attending loses his/her right to study.

Upon application, the right to study may be restored starting from the beginning of the next semester.

The right to study may be restored on the following conditions:

  • The student has right-to-study time remaining. The right to study cannot be restored if the right-to-study time hasended.
  • Remaining right-to-study time is calculated as follows: the semesters during which the student has not had

the right to study because of neglecting to register are counted as semesters of non-attendance. When the

entire non-attendance time is used up, additional non-attendance because of neglecting to register uses up

the student’s right-to-study time.

  • The student is able to complete his/her studies during the remaining right-to-study time.

Appendices to the application:

  • Report of progress in studies
  • If necessary, an individual study plan for completing the remaining studies.

The application for restoration of the right to study must be submitted to the office of the field of study.

The granting of the application is recommended by the coordinator of the degree programme / head of master’s degree

programmes. The final decision to restore the right to study is made by the director of the respective school.

The right to study can be restored by application starting from the beginning of the next semester. The application must be

submitted during the student’s right-to-study time.

Beginning on 1.1.2015, a handling fee of €50 will be charged for the procedure of extending right-to-study time. (Decision

made by director, 12.1.2015)

The application should be submitted to the study affairs office of the field of study. A receipt of payment of the handling fee

should be enclosed with the application. The handling fee should be paid to the following account: Op Pohjola
