Operation of the Pelco Model 2 Nitrogen-Burst Photo Developing System
Last update October 28, 2004
SETUP
1. Check the photochemicals to ensure that they are fresh.
2. Open the nitrogen cylinder valve.
3. Check to ensure that the burst controller is initially in the OFF mode and that the duration is set to 1.5 seconds and the interval is set to 5 seconds.
USE
4. Turn on the water temperature mixer valve, adjusting to 68 to 70 degrees F.
5. Close the blue valve immediately below the sink for filling of the developer and fixer water reservoir.
6. Turn on the center faucet for filling the water reservoir on the left side. Remember that the water reservoir bath for the developer and fixer does not have an overflow valve. Once the tank is filled, turn the faucet OFF.
7. Turn on the right faucet for filling the water wash tank on the right side. Make certain that the panel is inserted on the right side of the tank to prevent drainage during use (looks like a mini guillotine).
8. Open the gas valve(s) to the tank(s) you will be using. Turn the burst system controller to the down or AUTOMATIC position when ready to begin.
9. Proceed with processing as usual. It is suggested that a continuous burst be used briefly while inserting negatives into the developing tank. Switch back to AUTOMATIC mode during remainder of processing if you do so.
a. Develop in D-19 (at working dilution)
· 2 minutes for up to 100 negatives.
· 2.5 minutes for up to 150 negatives.
· 3 minutes for up to 200 negatives.
b. Rinse in wash water tank for 1 minute.
c. Rapid Fixer 3-4 minutes.
d. Rinse in wash water tank for 20 to 30 minutes.
e. Dip in photoflow for 15 seconds.
f. Dry in negative dryer for a minimum of 30 minutes.
SHUTDOWN
10. Turn off water faucet to water wash tank.
11. Turn off mixer valve. This is the main OFF/ON control for the sink.
12. Turn nitrogen burst controller to off position.
13. Close the nitrogen tank valve.
14. Drain the left water reservoir by opening the blue valve under the sink.
15. Empty the water wash tank.
NOTES:
· The regulator delivery pressure should be set <15 psi. At levels higher than this, damage may occur to the controller.
· Do not adjust the nitrogen burst duration and interval systems while it is running as that will damage the unit.
· Remember that the water bath for the developer and fixer does not have an overflow valve. Once the tank is filled, turn the faucet OFF. DO NOT FLOOD THE ROOM!
· The mixer valve is the main water inlet. The manufacturer says to shut it OFF when not in use to prevent backflow in the hot and cold water feeder pipes.
· If you forget to turn the mixer on, you will have no water to the other faucets.
