Our Daily Schedule offers balanced opportunities to learn through play in small groups, large groups, and independent activities focusing on the whole child. These activities are sensory rich and support both fine motor and gross motor opportunities while embracing the creativity God blesses each student with.

Put belongings where they belong, find name card for Question of the Day, get ready for

classroom learning activities with classmates.

Welcome Meeting/Daily Focus

Circle time welcoming the children with songs and group activities promoting social skills through routine activities:Daily Helping Hands, Number of the Week, Letter of the Week, Rhyme Time and a large group activityfocusing on Early Childhood Literacy, Math, Science, or Social Studies

Music & Movement/Outdoor

Circle time engaging the children with music, fingerplays, gross motor activities, and games

During nice weather, we will go outside. When the weather is not conducive to play outside we will be using the gym and/or the classroom for movement time.

Read Aloud

Read stories together working on print concepts and other early literacy concepts.

Jesus Time

Large Group – Learning about Jesus and other people from the Bible

On Wednesdays attend Chapel with other Preschool Classes approximately 15-20 Minutes

5-minute music movement before Centers (Praising Jesus!)

Learning Centers/Free Choice Purposeful Play (See Play is learning sheet!)

Rotate through Small Groups - Literacy, Math, Science, and Free Choice Purposeful Play

Block Area, Dramatic Play Area, Art Area,Writing/Pre-Writing/ABC Area (Whole alphabet opportunities every day),Library/Book Area(Library:Monthly opportunity to check out a book from classroom library do an optional book report at home.)

Helping Hands/Show Tell

Calendar, Weather, Pledge, Snack Helpers, Prayer

Snack Time

A time to learn about new foods, table manners,and an excellent opportunity for calm socialization.

Closing Time

Clean up, gather belongings, put on own coats, closing song, and Prayer

What we are Learning through our Daily Schedule …

Welcome Meeting/ Daily Focus

This is a time to work on communication skills, problem solving, cooperation, mutual respect for others, empathy, and supports self-discipline.

Music/Movement/GymMusic supports auditory learning and gives children opportunity to match movements to music and others. Fun and supportive way to enhance gross motor skills and gets the wiggles out! Gross Motor skills give children the opportunity to use their muscles as they engage in healthy exercises such as dancing, jumping, marching and more.

Math(Large Group and Small Group Activities) They will learn new ideas and language supported by hands-on and real-life experiences. Manipulatives help students improve visual perception, hand-eye coordination, as well as problem solving and social skills. Develop awareness of numbers, geometry, patterns, measurement, and graphs through classifying, sorting, comparing, and developing number sense. Special focus is given to a different number each week promoting number sense but #1-20 our incorporated daily. We start with #1-10.

Literacy(Large Group and Small Group Activities) Builds an understanding of language and literature. Supports letter recognition, letter sounds, syllables, and works on comprehension. These activities will also enhance prewriting skills, expose children to writing and will encourage communication.Special focus is given to a different letter each week but whole alphabet opportunities our incorporated daily.

Read AloudRead aloud time is designed to help children develop an appreciation and enjoyment of literature. Will work on print awareness skills and other literacy concepts.

Science(Large Group and Small Group Activities) Offers children many hands-on opportunities for observation, exploration, investigation, making predications, and experimentation.

Social Studies(Large Group and Small Group Activities) The children will learn to understand directions, to recognize community helpers, learn about our community, respect for others, appreciate others culture, character building, and life skills.

Child-initiated Purposeful Play Areas:These areas and activities give the children a chance to play, explore, and practice preschool skills. Children chose to play independently or with other children supporting social development with others and embracing their own creativity.

Block AreaBuilds concentration as children focus on what part of a structure needs to be changed and rebuilt. Encourages children to take turns and share equipment while building collaborative projects. Supports math concepts including spatial reasoning.

Creative Art AreaExposure to many art mediums, developing fine motor skills, engaging in creative expression, improving hand eye coordination, and communicating ideas.

Writing/Pre-Writing/ABC AreaStrengthening fine motor skills supports pre-writing skills. This area will support language skills, learn hand eye coordination, encourages putting thoughts into words, and will begin to learn that print has meaning. Opportunities to experiment with writing tools, writes symbols and letters. This will include identifying letters through sensory rich experiences.

Dramatic Play AreaChildren will work cooperatively with peers and exhibit creativity through pretend play encouraging communication and enhancing literary and communication skills.

Library Reading AreaSupport and encourage children to show interest in reading and books.
