Preparation & Procedures

Student Bio Card

Preparation:

  1. Discuss the “Student Example” with the students and review the type of information they will need to put in their card
  2. Determine a “filename” and desired location to be saved.

Procedures:

  1. Open a new Word document. Choose File: Save As; within the “Save As” window, select the desired location for the file. Type a filename, and then click “Save.” Example: ‘President-your name’.
  2. Choose Table: Insert: Table…; change the numbers of columns and rows to insert a 1 x 1 table at the top of the document and click “OK.”
  3. Insert a 2 column x 3 row table that joins to the 1 x 1 table under the 1 x 1 table. Click below the 1 x 1 table before inserting the 2 x 3 table. This is a great time to introduce “Undo Typing” if students forget to click below.
  4. Center the name of the student in the 1 x 1 table using size 36, any font or color. Challenge: Determine the largest font they could use with only 1 line.
  5. Center the following information in the first two rows of the 2 x 3 table using size 18: “Birth Date” & “Known For” with appropriate answers for each
  6. Insert a picture in the lower left-hand cell of the 2 x 3 table. Ideally this will be a digital picture of the student. Otherwise they may use their favorite animal or simply draw a picture in paint.
  7. Write a 1 paragraph biography about themselves
  8. Insert a 3 Column x 3 row table that joins to the 2 Column x 3 row table
  9. Add Favorites with properly cited pictures from the Internet
