Page Set Up

  • Open MicrosoftPublisherand choose Blank 8.5 x 11”
  • Page Design Margins  Narrow
  • Insert  Table  Insert Table

  • On the Table Tools Design tab change the size to 10.5 (height) and 8 (width)
  • Move the table to line up perfectly with the margins
  • Highlight all of the boxes in the table and change the font size to 24. Then click on the Table ToolsLayout tab and change the alignment to Bottom Center

Building Your Crossword

You will use the template shown on Page 2 to accurately place boxes for each word. MAKE SURE YOU COUNT CORRECTLY AND DOUBLE-CHECK THE PLACEMENT OF EACH WORD!

For each word:

1)Highlight the correct boxes

2)Right-click on the highlighted section and select Format Table

3)Change the Fill Color to the 2nd shade of gray

4)Change the Line Color to black

5)Click on all borders

6)Click OK

7)Insert a text box in the top left corner of the box for the first letter. Type the number of the clue in the default font.

You will repeat each of these steps for all of the words. Once all of them are finished, your crossword template should look exactly like this:

Completing Your Crossword

Now it’s time to complete the crossword! Use the clues below to fill in each of the boxes you formatted. All of the words are technology terms. If you don’t know the answers, use the internet to look them up!

When you are finished, save your crossword just like you normally would just in case you need to go back and fix something. Before you turn it in, save it as a PDF. To do this, you will click File  Save As. Under the file name, you will see “Save as type:” – click on this dropdown box and select PDF. (Hint: you might want to change the name so you know which one to attach to your email. For example, call this one Computer Terms Crossword PDF.)
