To Whom It May Concern,

This is in response to the Mentorship Program established at the Welcome Back BBQ in association with CSUN’s College of Engineering and Computer Science Alumni Association. The event was held on Friday September 19, 2014.

For this program I have three main objectives. First and foremost, I hope to learn. Being a recent graduate, I am eager to gain experience and learn the ins and outs of the engineering field. I understand that engineering is in no way a cookie-cutter profession and that each company has its own system and routine but the more exposure I have to the professional lifestyle, the better prepared I am toenter the engineering workforce. Secondly, I am hopeful to establish a long-lasting relationship with my mentor. I firmly believe that every encounter with any given person is specifically designed to impact your life in some way, shape or form. Building lasting relationships go a long way when it comes to networking and establishing respectable reputations. Lastly, I hope this experience opens doors towards my future endeavors. I would be grateful for any guidance and advice for my future career. Everything about life after graduation is new to me, so I am certainly in need of direction. I would love to hear your stories of how you came to successful in the engineering field.

About myself, I have recently graduated from California State University Northridge with a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering. I am currently a first year master’s student at California State University Northridge and am enrolled part time in their Structural Engineering Master’s Program.I firmly believe that I am a strong candidate for mentorship. I have attained great written and verbal communication skills. I also possess the skills to develop and present effective and clear presentations on different subject matters. I am versatile and am able to adapt quickly in new environments. I have the ability to learn very quickly and learn multiple new subjects at once. Multitasking and time management are two things I excel at most. Finally, I am a team player, whether it be in a position of leadership or an essential supporter of those who lead. I am eager to learn and eager to soak up any and all knowledge you are willing to give me.

Thank you for the consideration to be my mentor. Feel free to contact me at your convenience. The opportunity to be mentored by a working professional is greatly appreciated.

Respectfully Submitted,
