Online Tax Lessons and Assessments DUE DATE: Monday, March 9, 2015

*In your Google Drive create a folder called Taxes then save and drag this document to that folder – save all documents from this unit in that folder (to do that open that folder before you drag the item to the drive)

Lessons for Understanding your taxes modules http://apps.irs.gov/app/understandingTaxes/student/index.jsp

Module 1: Payroll Taxes and Federal Income Tax Withholding

Module 2: Wage and Tip Income

Module 3: Interest Income

Module 4: Dependents

Module 5: Filing Status

Module 6: Exemptions

Module 7: Standard Deduction

In each lesson above you will need to complete the Tax Tutorial and the Assessment. You should go through the simulation as it helps you with the topic. Once you have completed the tutorial check it off below. Once you have completed the assessment you need to record the grade below and then follow these steps to save it to your H drive.

How to save with the graded assessment on-screen complete these steps:

  1. Ctrl – P
  2. The print window should pop up – scroll to Cute PDF Writer – click Print
  3. A Save As window should pop up
  4. Name the document in the file name box by the following instructions: your first initial your last name (sgreen) and then mod and the number (mod1) – so if I had finished the first assessment I would save it as sgreen mod1)
  5. Change the SAVE In selection to your desktop
  6. Open your Google Drive
  7. Drag it to the TAXES folder you created in your Google – be sure it does not have a ~in front of the name – that is a temporary file and will NOT save and you will have to redo the assignment in order to get a grade.

8.  Share the document that day…YOU MUST PUT THE MODULE NUMBER IN THE SUBJECT LINE TO GET CREDIT - each score will be recorded after you send me the email

9.  If you forget to save your results you will GET to retake it and then follow the steps above.

Then … record the date and score on this sheet – you are striving for an 80% or higher on each assessment – you can retake them if you want – what you email me is what I will record as your ASSESSMENT score for that module.

Module / Date Tutorial Complete / Assessment Score
