Dear Jeffrey,
You would think that most Republicans at the Capitol would help us with a tax break.
Unfortunately, Jeffrey, you would be wrong.
Let’s take cars for example.
Georgia is one of the most expensive states in the union to own a car -- because of taxes.
That is one reason we survey candidates on car taxes and fight to abolish them.
Did you know that candidate Fran Millar voted to raise taxes on cars?
Is that why he refuses to return the candidate survey?
You see, back in 2012, the Republican-dominated General Assembly voted to create a car title tax.
This car title tax has to be paid on any new or used car purchased on or after March 1, 2013.
Some politicians are claiming that this new tax eliminates the so-called “birthday car tax.”
Those politicians are lying, Jeffrey!
All car owners who purchased their vehicles before March 1, 2013 still have to pay the birthday car tax.
And Republicans piled this car title tax on top of the old birthday car tax!
Some of those same politicians are also claiming that if you buy a new car this tax will be less than the sales tax that it replaces.
That is a lie too, Jeffrey!
These politicians are hoping that you won’t realize that later, when you go to sell your car, the buyer will be forced to pay this new car title tax.
As you know, basic economic reality will force you, the seller, to lower the sale price of your vehicle.
That is because used cars weren’t subject to this kind of taxation before, and you will have to lower the price to remain competitive with new car dealers.
But even if you decide to sell your car at a discount, this law says that tax commissioner will tax the car title at the price set by a ‘used car market guide,’ if that price is greater.
No matter if you’re the buyer or seller, Jeffrey, that’s money out of your pocket.
Some would even call it government price fixing!
Jeffrey, we can’t afford more tax hikes like this.
Are you happy with Fran Millar’s vote to raise taxes on cars?
Please contact Fran Millar and make your voice heard!
Fran Millar mailto:?subject=Why did you vote to RAISE my Car Tax?
Would the other candidates vote any better?
Unfortunately, Democratic candidates Benedict Truman II and Tamara Johnson still have not returned their surveys either.
Please contact them and INSIST that they return their candidate surveys immediately.
Benedict Truman II mailto:?subject=Why won't you complete the GaTaxpayersUnited survey?
Tamara Johnson mailto:?subject=Why won't you complete the GTU survey?
Republican candidate Dick Anderson returned his survey 100% correct, so we at least know where he stands. For Freedom. See Dick’s siteAnderson4TheConstitution.com
