3)Research the “Kennewick Man” controversy. Explain why researchers and Native Americans disagreed about how this body should be handled. Looking beyond the stated reasons given by Native Americans, are there other motives that would lead them to oppose examining this body?

4)Go to the “Romancing the Indian” website and read through each section. Find three historical paintings of Native Americans. Copy each image to your word processing program. Write three short essays (approximately 250 words each) describing how the artwork either romanticizes or demonizes Native Americans.

1 point will be awarded for a well-written and analytical paper.

5)Design a one page graphic organizer in Powepoint showing the similarities and differences of the Spanish, French, and English patterns of settlement. The graphic organizer should demonstrate both intellectual understanding of the patterns and aesthetic characteristics. You may use images cut and pasted from the web.

1 point will be awarded for a well designed and illustrated graphic organizer that covers all of the essential similarities and differences.
