This annual event went ahead successfully again, although earlier in the day things did not look promising. The morning course inspection found temporary traffic lights and roadworks taking place,(shades of last year!) but I was assured that the work would be completed by the end of the day, and this time, all was ok. Then just over an hour before the start, there was quite a serious traffic accident on the course with a number of emergency vehicles attending. With half an hour to spare, the accident was cleared and we were able to go ahead.

The weather was also kind, with the strong wind easing slightly and the rain staying away.

Although conditions were slower than last year, a number of riders produced faster times, and there were some good performances. None more so than Sam Clark (Buxton CC) who was unable to ride last year, after breaking his arm in an accident a few days before the race. He made the journey over from Derbyshire this year, and produced an excellent ride to take the number one spot with 51m 43s, ahead of 2nd placed local rider Martin Cain (GS Surosa) who improved on his 4th place in 2010.
