Old Testament Character Book Publishing Project
(6th Grade Religion, Computers, Communications)
Goal: You will write a children’s book about the life of an Old Testament figure, format and illustrate the book in computer class, and read the book to a student in the primary grades.

October 14 – submit first 5 paragraphs of your Old Testament figure
October 28 – submit second 5 paragraphs on your Old Testament figure
November 11 – submit last 5 paragraphs on your Old Testament figure
December 2 – complete book format and drawings (for Communications)

Format:
The final book will be 15 pages long and include computer generated pictures.
Your story must have a beginning, middle and an end that flow together:
· Beginning (2-4 pages*): background information about the character—when and where he/she lived; his/her place in Salvation History
· Middle (8-11 pages): more detailed account of important event(s) in the character’s life; examples of how they practiced humility (or failed to) and the result of those choices
· End(2-4 pages): ways this character prepared the way for Jesus or pointed to His coming; lessons we can learn from this character’s life and choices
*each page in the book should contain a substantial paragraph of text (at least 6 sentences)
Rubric for Writing Portion
(60 points in Religion)
___/60pts – Content: Beginning, Middle and End have all the elements listed above
(40 points in Communications)
___/20pts – Flow & Style: ideas are connected and sentences have variety and smoothness
___/10pts – Mechanics: spelling, punctuation, and grammar are correct
___/10pts – Format:
*typed double-spaced with 1” margins and 12-point Times New Roman font
*paragraphs indented and numbered by pages
*headers that show Beginning, Middle and End
