Below is a list of common Questions and Answers relative to this program. If you have any addition questions, please do not hesitate to contact your Authorized Oki Data Reseller or Oki Data directly @ 800-654-3282.

  1. Why is Oki Data conducting this inspection?
  1. We are conducting this inspection to keep our customer’s safe and prevent injuries by removing the identified problem products.
  1. How can I tell if my Oki facsimile is affected?
  1. The products affected are limited to these models: OF5780, OF5980, OF5980DL. If you one of these models, look on the label on the back of the unit for the serial number. Only those beginning with the sequence 310… through 402… require this inspection.
  1. Are there any exceptions to having the inspection done?
  1. If your Oki facsimile product falls in the serial number range indicated above, the only exception to having the inspection done is if you have a red-dot located to the right of the serial number indicating it has been inspected and no action is required on that unit. If you have not opened the box or unpackaged the unit, there is also a 1/8” round red-dot sticker on the right side of the serial number label on the box.
Q.What do I do until my affected product is inspected?
  1. We strongly recommend turning off the power and unplugging the unit from the wall outlet until the inspection is completed.
  1. How can I take advantage of having my affected product inspected?
  1. You may contact your authorized Oki Data Fax Reseller, or contact Oki Data directly at 800-654-3282

Q.What will be done and what can I expect?
  1. Once you contact your Authorized Oki Data Fax Reseller or Oki Data directly, we will coordinate an on-site visit to inspect the unit. If everything is as expected, you will be able to continue its operation as normal. If the inspection indicates a problem with the unit, the unit will be removed and an immediate replacement ordered. All efforts will be made to meet your schedule and minimize the downtime of your Oki facsimile machine.
  1. How long will it take for me to receive an inspection?
  1. Please allow up to two (2) days for the inspection from the time you contacted us, and two days from the inspection date if you require a replacement. We apologize for any inconvenience, and assure you we are working as quickly as possible to inspect your product.
  1. When will I get a replacement product?
  1. If you have an affected unit as determined by the inspection, you will receive the replacement product the next business day. If you require assistance in having the replacement fax machine set-up, we can also coordinate that as well.
  1. My fax machine appears to be operating okay. Can I continue to use it?
  1. No. Even though your product appears to be safe, we are asking all customers to immediately stop using the product and participate in the inspection process.
  1. I no longer have the receipt for the product. Can I still have it inspected?
  1. Yes. You can still have the product inspected and if deemed necessary, replaced without a receipt.
Q.Will I be able to inspect the product myself?
  1. No. An authorized Oki Data trained technician must do the inspection.
  1. Can my unit be repaired by myself or by a technician?
  1. No. All affected products must be returned to the factory for proper disposition.

Oki Data Americas, Inc. is taking responsibility to insure any affected product is quickly and properly identified and if necessary, replaced immediately. A process is in place to minimize the Oki facsimile machine’s down time and also ensures the customer’s safety and product reliability.
