The OK Corral Gun Club in Okeechobee, Florida is a 300 acre premiereclub located in South Central Florida. The OK Corral Gun Club offers 2 championship sporting clay tournament level courses, Competition Park,pistol and rifle ranges all the shooting disciplines outdoorsspecial events, banquets and a level of personal service found only in the best private clubs. We hostcompetitive shoots, corporate and leisure groups, small teambuilding retreatsand fun shoots for charities, feature a great club restaurant,and other amenities.

Job description:

As the Director of Shooting Sports, you will have overall responsibility for all shooting sports and outside maintenancedepartments.Your responsibilities will include hiring, receiving and stocking product,pro shop display and organization, developing shooting programs for the recruitment and retention of new and current members and guests. Your responsibilities will also include developing shooting sports lesson programs for all shooting disciplines to include private, group, corporate outings and new shooter orientations. The daily management responsibilities focus on safety, customer service, regulatory compliance and financial management.The coordination and development of programming and shooting sports association’s involvement will be an essential responsibility. Additional responsibilities include engagement in the clubs marketing plan, community outreaches and outside sales.

Overall Job Duties:

  • Protect employees, members and guests by maintaining a safe and clean facility.
  • Meet financial commitments by driving sales, controlling expenses and strong fiscal management.
  • Recruit, interview, select, train, guide, and evaluate staff to support and grow sales/profits, and to provide outstanding service to members and guests
  • Manage staff by following up on work results; teach, coaching, counsel and train staff daily.
  • Ensure compliance with all internal policies and procedures, as well as industry regulations. Development of standard operating procedures for outside shooting sports staff.
  • Be responsible for sporting clays course and static rangerepairs, set-up, design, tournaments, and daily operations.
  • Carry out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws and industry regulations.
  • Promote outstanding member and guest relations
  • Responsible for service recovery from complaints or opportunities.
  • Oversee flow of inventory; make ordering and merchandising decisions in collaboration with the General Manager.
  • Have a passionate dedication to quality, teamwork, financial performance and the development of the staff.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Prior experience in shooting sports management.
  • Demonstrated success and job experience in a similar leadership role. College degree in a related field would be a plus.
  • Strong communications skills, both written and verbal.
  • Good IT skills ensuring effective communications using today’s technologies of email and other communications.
  • Financial experience in managing to an approved budget and ability to provide monthly variances of revenue, labor and expenses.
  • Within a team culture, experience in successfully managing a staff, demonstrating the ability to accomplish club and departmental goals.
  • Computer proficiency to include POS, word processing and spreadsheets a plus.
  • Superior customer service, problem solving, reasoning and conflict resolution skills.
  • Effective planning, organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility on work hours to include weekends & holidays.
  • Involvement in the following associations, NSCA, NSSA, USPSA, IDPA, IPSC and other shooting sports associations is preferred.
  • Must be able to meet Federal requirements to process firearms transactions.
