On Thursday, April 28 the OSSCA Executive Board elected Ben Belleman into the OSSCA Hall of Fame. Ben Belleman is the former coach of CuyahogaValleyChristianAcademy and currently the head coach at CedarvilleUniversity. Ben coached at CVCA for 19 years and also spent 3 years at TempleChristian in Michigan.

As a head coach at CVCA Ben had an overall record of 202-103-53. He guided CVCA to their first Final Four in 1993 and 8 regional appearances. He was the first coach to receive the Ron Pinsenschaum Award in 1988. The Ron Pinsenschaum Award is one of the highest awards given by the OSSCA; it is based upon ethics, integrity, and sportsmanship. Ben exemplifies all these qualities, as did his teams, as CVCA won numerous sportsmanship awards under Ben’s direction. Ben has also been named OSSCA Coach of the Year on three separate occasions. Ben’s record as a coach speaks for itself, but Ben has been a big influence for high school soccer in the state of Ohio.

Ben served as president of the OSSCA and guided the OSSCA through some difficult times. Ben took over the OSSCA when there was some difficulty between the OHSAA and OSSCA. Ben smoothed that process over and allows the OSSCA to have a strong working relationship with the OHSAA today. Ben also served as a vice-president within the OSSCA and was the Greater Akron secretary for many years. Ben has been a servant to high school soccer in Ohio and still is today. As head coach at CedarvilleUniversity he has offered his facility to host regional and state level games and served as site manager for those games. He is currently work with the OSSCA as a representative of the college coaches association to have a Hall of Fame housed at Crew Stadium.

The OSSCA would like to congratulate Ben Belleman on his selection to the OSSCA Hall of Fame and wish him the best of luck at CedarvilleUniversity. Ben will be inducted into the Hall of Fame at the All-State Banquet in December.
