Official Application for the

Joanne C. Wooters Fair Scholarship

1.A 4-H scholarship will be presented to a county 4-H

member whom is a graduating high school senior planning to further their education. This scholarship is made available from funds earned through the Joanne C. Wooters Fair Scholarship Fund from various sources and events.

2.The scholarship winner will be announced during the Achievement Banquet.

3.Applications are to be mailed – postmarked on or before

February 15th– to the Caroline County Extension Office, c/o Joanne C. Wooters Fair Scholarship Committee. Scholarship will be awarded on basis of completed applications only; there will be no personal interviews. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

4.Scholarship Criteria:

Applicant must have completed at least two years of active 4-H membership. The applicant must have completed a full year of club work for the current enrollment year.

5.Additional Scholarship Criteria:

* Participation and direct involvement in the

Caroline/Dorchester County Fair programs and activities (including Fair events such as Basket Bingo and Christmas in Caroline)

* Active involvement in the daily operations of the Caroline/Dorchester County Fair (i.e. set-up, clean-up, trash removal, dinner or parking assistance, booth help, kitchen service, etc.)

* Active 4-H club and county 4-H program involvement

* Citizenship and community service participation

* Proven leadership in 4-H and the community

* Dedication to “making the best better”

6. Applicants must plan to attend an accredited institution of higher education, college, trade school, etc.

7. Scholarship monies will be awarded when the winners’ college verifies enrollment. Scholarship can be used for tuition or college expenses (i.e. books, room/board, etc.).

8.Two letters of reference must accompany application: one from 4-H club leader and one from a teacher or guidance counselor. In case of home school student, please call the Extension Office for details on suitable references.
