10.200 KG OPIUM SEIZED -THREE PERSONS (3) ARRESTED

Delhi Police Narcotics Branch arrested three drug traffickers, including two women, and recovered 10.200 Kg of Opium from their possession.

ARRESTED PERSONS:

Santosh Rani w/o Pooran Chand r/o T-151, Om Vihar, Uttam Nagar, Delhi aged 45 Years.

Rishi S/o Pooran Chand r/o T-151, Om Vihar, Uttam Nagar, Delhi aged 23 years.

Gurmeet Kaur w/o Tarsem r/o B-105, Guru Nank Dev Nagar, Bhalswa Dairy, GT Road, Delhi aged 55 years.

OPERATION: Secret information was received that a lady namely Santosh is indulging in supplying Opium in Delhi and in its adjoining areas i.e Ghaziabad etc. Sh. Mahender Singh, ACP/Narcotics Branch and Inspector M.L. Sharma, S.H.O./P.S. Narcotics Branch deployed A.S.I. Paramjeet Singh to develop the information and to strike at the right point of time. The surveillance brought results and it was learnt that Santosh will be coming to corner of Bhalswa Dairy, Outer Ring Road in Santro Car No. DL 4 CR 5279 to deliver a consignment of Opium. Immediately a raiding team under the supervision of A.S.I. Paramjeet Singh was despatched to the spot and a trap was laid there. After some time Santosh alongwith her son Rishi reached there in a Santro car and Smt. Gurmeet Kaur also arrived to obtain the delivery and all were apprehended and 10.200 Kg of Opium was recovered from their possession. The contraband was seized and a case vide FIR No. 86/08 u/s 18/2529 NDPS Act, P.S. Narcotics Branch was got registered and all the three accused were arrested.

During interrogation it was revealed that Santosh’s family migrated to Delhi from Punjab in the year 1984. She established her base in Delhi and her husband namely Pooran Chand started procuring contraband from Rajasthan and he has also established a Dhaba on the National Highway near Udaipur, so that, his activities goes without detection from any agency. Further investigation is in progress.

The value of the recovered Opium in the International market is about Rs. 1 crore.

A team of officers of Special Cell led by Inspector Govind Sharma and Inspector Subhash Vats under the supervision of ACP Sanjeev Kumar Yadav has apprehended Mohd Salim ( aged 36 yrs) r/o Chand Bagh Delhi. He is wanted by UP police in a case of a murder of PS Narsena, Bulandsahar, UP for which a reward has also has been declared by UP Police for his apprehension.

An information was received in Special Cell that Salim, in order to evade his arrest is hiding in Jaitpur area of PS Badarpur, Delhi. Sources were developed to apprehend accused person. On 11/08/2008, on the basis of specific information he was apprehended u/s 41.1 CrPC.

Mohd Salim on interrogation disclosed that in the year 2005 his nephew Naushad r/o Chand Bagh, Delhi, a travel agent was kidnapped from the area of PS Bhajan Pura Delhi by one Davender r/o Sonia Vihar, Delhi. A Case FIR No 555 /05 dt 23/12/05 U/S 302 IPS PS Bhajan Pura Delhi was registered in this regard. The dead body of Naushad was recovered from Buland Sahar UP and van robbed from the deceased while committing the crime was also recovered from the possession of accused persons. Four persons namely Devender, Pappu, Vinod and Deepak all resident of Sonia Vihar Delhi were arrested in that case.

After the arrest of the accused persons Mohd Salim wanted to avenge of the murder of his nephew. He along with his associates hatched a conspiracy to eliminate Ram Bhool Sharma who was father-in-law of Davender. Mohd Salim hired one Kafil (2) Muzaffar (3) Bhoora and (4) Rahim Alam @ Kalua all residents of Buland Sahar UP . He paid Rs 50,000/- to the contract killers for the murder of Ram Bhool Sharma. On 05/06/2007, Rambhool Sharma was murdered. A case vide FIR No 131/007 U/S 302/120-B IPC was registered in PS Narsena Distt Buland Sahar UP. All the accused persons were arrested by the local police of PS Narsena Buland Sahar UP. While Mohd Salim managed to evade arrest.

A reward of Rs 5000/- has been declared for the arrest of accused Mohd Salim by Deputy Inspector General of Police Meerut range UP. Accused has earlier been involved in a theft case of PS Ahmad Nagar Buland Sahar UP.

Further interrogation is in progress.

200 Gms. Smack worth Rs. 20 lacs recovered : Accused arrested

With the arrest of one Naushad aged 22 years s/o Sagir Ahmed r/o J-519, Jhuggi J-Block, New Seelam Pur, Delhi, the AATS Staff of North East District police has recovered 200 Gms. smack having value of Rs. 20 lacs in international market.

TEAM AND THE INCIDENT

A team consisting of Inspr. Pankaj Sharma I/C AATS/NE, SI Parmod Anand, HC Harbir, Ct. Rajiv and Ct. Harender was constituted under the close supervision of Shri L.R. Meena, ACP/Operations, North-East District, Delhi.

On 11.08.08, a secret information was received by HC Harbir of AATS/NE that one person would pass through Gurudwara Road, New Seelam Pur at about 10:30 AM and would be in illegal possession of smack. Subsequent to this information, a raiding party consisting of above mentioned police officials was immediately constituted. A trap was laid down around Gurudwara, New Seelam Pur in plain clothes. At about 10:50 AM, the alleged person came there and on the indication of secret informer, he was overpowered. On his search, 200 Gms. Smack kept in a polythene bag was recovered from his possession. Subsequently, a case under NDPS Act has been registered at PS Seelam Pur and investigation was taken up.

INTERROGATION

During interrogation, the identity of the apprehended person was revealed as Naushad r/o Jhuggi J-Block, New Seelam Pur, Delhi. He disclosed that he worked for one Kamal r/o Seelam Pur, Delhi who gave him Rs.500/- daily for illegal sale of smack in the area of Seelam Pur, Delhi.

Further investigation is in progress and efforts are being made to nab Kamal.

Naushad aged 22 years s/o Sagir Ahmed r/o J-519, Jhuggi J-Block, New Seelam Pur, Delhi is 22 years old. He is illiterate and recently married. He is a crockery vendor.

Ø  INTERSTATE GANG OF HIGHWAY ROBBERS BUSTED BY CRIME BRANCH - 5 PERSONS INCLUDING RECEIVER ARRESTED.

Ø  THEY HAVE COMMITTED SEVERAL ROBBERIES IN DELHI, HARYANA, MAHARASHTRA AND OTHER STATES.

Ø  ROBBED JEWELLERY, CASH & BELONGINGS RECOVERED.

Ø  THEY WOULD FORCE VICTIM TO WITHDRAW MONEY FROM ATM.

The Crime Branch has arrested four interstate robbers and one receiver for committing highway robberies. The gang is active in various states and has committed several robberies. Their names and addresses are as under:-

1.  Gabbar Singh @ Gurcharan Singh (age 32 years) s/o Late Sardar Karnail Singh r/o H.No. C-51,52, IIIrd Floor, Gandhi Vihar, Delhi.

2.  Sumit Narula (age 29 years) S/o Ram Swaroop Narula r/o B-227-228, IInd Floor, Gandhi Vihar, Delhi.

3.  Raj Kumar Sachdeva @ Ravi (age 42 years) S/o Late Sh. Banarasi Das r/o H. No. 14, Gali No 2, Bangali Colony, Sant Nagar, Burari, Delhi.

4.  Sushil Kumar Dhamija @ Sheelu (age 24 years) s/o Kishan Kumar Dhamija r/o E-77/78, Gandhi Vihar, Delhi.

5.  Devesh Digwal (age 34 years) s/o Sh. Hem Chandra r/o 9/3572, Raigar Pura, Karol Bagh, Delhi - RECEIVER

RECOVERY

MODUS OPERANDI

The gang robs luxury cars from innocent drivers after intoxicating them. To rob vehicles, 3-4 gang members would visit the bus stop at Mukarba Chowk with their luggage in the night to look as genuine commuters and take lift in luxury cars. After traveling for some time, the gang would ask the driver to stop at some roadside dhaba/food joint to take food. The robbers would take food and offer tea and snacks mixed with sedative tablets to the driver who would then fall unconscious. The robbers would abandon the unconscious driver on the roadside and take away his vehicle. In this way, the gang has robbed four vehicles (2 Indica and 2 Honda City cars) and the belongings of the drivers so far.

After obtaining the robbed luxury car, the gang would offer lift to innocent commuters either in the early morning or in the late evening in their robbed luxury cars. Three members of the gang would reach at any of the Interstate Bus Terminals situated at Kashmere Gate or Dhaula Kuan or IGI Airport or Mukarba Chowk where they could after a lift to innocent commuters. After covering some distance, the gang would rob the commuter of his wallet, mobile phone, valuables including jewellery, debit and credits card at the point of revolver/countrymade pistol. The robbers would then drive him to the nearest ATM and they would withdraw more money. For the next two or three hours or so, the gang would drive around, shopping with credit cards and withdrawing money from various ATMs while the commuter would still be held hostage in their car. Thereafter, they would abandon the victim at a lonely stretch and escape.

THE TEAM

A team of SOS led by Inspr. Rajpal Dabas and comprising of SI Nirbhay Singh Rana, SI Surender Singh, SI Sharat Kohli, SI Ravinder Kumar, HC Dinesh, HC Sant Raj, Ct. Suresh Kumar, Ct Rajinder, Ct. Harvinder Singh, Ct. Subhodh, Ct Rakesh and Ct. Ramesh was constituted in the over all supervision of Sh. Udaiveer Singh Rathi, ACP/SOS./Crime Branch.

THE OPERATION

On 11.8.2008, a secret information was received by the team that some of the highway robbers would assemble near ISBT, Kashmere Gate. Acting on this information, the SOS team of Crime Branch apprehended the four highway robbers alongiwth two countrymade pistols and four rounds.

A case vide FIR No. 232 /08 u/s 25 Arms Act & 411/34 IPC has been registered at PS Kashmiri Gate, Delhi in this regard. During investigation, one Devesh, a jeweller of Karol Bagh has been arrested and some of the robbed jewellery has been recovered from his possession. Following cases have been worked out with the arrest of these robbers.

2. Case FIR No. 115/08 dt. 19.05.08 u/s 365/382/34 IPC PS Kashmere Gate.

3. Case FIR No. 38/08 dt. 03.07.08 u/s 392/34 IPC PS Palam Delhi.

4. Case FIR No. 91/08 dt. 28.05.08 u/s 406/328/34 IPC PS Murthal, Haryana.

5. Case FIR No. 43/08 dt. 12.03.08 u/s 328/379 IPC PS Murthal, ,Haryana.

6. Case FIR No. 141/08 dt. 23.07.08 u/s 328/392/34 IPC PS Murthal, Haryana.

7. CR No118/08 dt 09.08.08 u/s 392/341/34 IPC & 3/25 A.Act PS Lonawala Pune, Mah.

All the accused persons are school drop-outs and were engaged in various pursuits like driving TSRs, vending vegetables, money landing etc. However, they were not satisfied with their present economic status and wanted to make quick money. Taking advantage of their well-built physique, good appearance and local knowledge, they committed a spate of highway robberies. Further investigation is in progress.
