Thank you for your interest in the Student Ambassador position for Chandler-Gilbert Community College!

Numerous prospective and new student activities have been scheduled for the next year. Approximately 2000+ students are expected to participate in these activities and events, which have a significant impact on their experience at Chandler-Gilbert Community College. Student Ambassadors assume many of the responsibilities for the program and are viewed by new students as the most important people with whom they interact. Therefore, the selection of Student Ambassadors is a very important process.

Becoming a Student Ambassador is designed to benefit you as well. As a campus leader you will gain valuable experiences for your resume, sharpen your communication skills, gain confidence, learn about academic and professional opportunities, reinforce your own academic performance, and network with college leaders and peers who share your academic and career goals. Also, role modeling and positive on-campus relationships contribute significantly to student success. Peer leadership can inspire, motivate, and empower others to realize their potential through sharing personal stories, sharing time, and sharing knowledge.

Student Ambassador Job Description

The Student Ambassador is responsible for the following:

Serve as a representative of Chandler-Gilbert Community College.

Interact with new students on campus tours and during orientation sessions as well as other recruitment activities. (i.e. New Student Orientations, College Fairs, Community Events. Please see attachment).

Acquaint new students with the campus services, activities and facilities and encourage them to fully participate on campus.

Assist session leaders in distribution of materials and group facilitation.

Set-up and take-down of events.

Participate in the evaluation process of orientation sessions and other recruitment activities.

Assist Office of Student Recruitment with set-up prior to, during, and after orientation sessions and other recruitment activities.

Be role model for current and prospective CGCC students.

Qualifications

Completion of at least 12 credits at CGCC by spring 2014 with minimum 2.5 GPA

Remain enrolled in at least 6 credits at CGCC for upcoming semesters

Demonstrated involvement in campus organizations and/or broad knowledge of CGCC structures, procedures, and policies.

Demonstrate strong leadership skills.

Job Requirement

Be available for all training sessions previous to NSO sessions and other recruitment activities.(TBD)

Full commitment of time and effort to the Orientation sessions and recruitment activities.

Be able to perform event follow-up procedures (i.e. calling students)

Minimum GPA of 2.5 at the time of application and maintained through the end of fall 2015-and spring 2016. (Mid-semester grade checks are performed. If any student drops below a 2.5 GPA Cumulative at the end of a semester, the student will no longer participate in the program.

Compensation

Paid for Student Ambassador activities/events during fall 2015,spring 2016

Paid $8.50/hr

Bi-monthly payments when applicable

Student Ambassador Agreement:

Student Ambassador must comply with all rules and procedures of Chandler-Gilbert Community College, the State of Arizona, the United States, and the CGCC Student Ambassador Program. I am eligible to work in the United States and Arizona.
