Wakulla County Receives $750,000 in Grant Funds for Housing Rehabilitation
Crawfordville, Florida – The Wakulla County Board of County Commissioners has accepted $750,000 in grant funds from The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) Small Cities Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program for Housing Rehabilitation. “This is a competitive grant program so I’m pleased to see Wakulla County ranked #1”, said Commissioner Randy Merritt.
These funds will be used for housing rehabilitation, repairs or demo/replacement of substandard housing units to ensure that the properties comply with state and local codes. This program is designed to benefit owner-occupied households of very low, low, and moderate income. There will be an application process for citizens to apply. The County is currently working on the criteria and application for which is anticipated to be advertised in May 2013.
