Office 2000 Installation and Configuration on Terminal Server for Newmarket Products

Prerequisites

Windows 2000 Terminal Services must be properly configured as described above.

1.Logon to the desktop of the Terminal Server

2.Place the TS into Install mode.

3.Navigate to \NI_TS\Office\Office 2000\Office Resource Kit Tools and double-click on orktools.exe

4.Accept the License Agreement terms and click Next.

5.Choose the default location for installation and click Next.

6.Adjust the options to only include the Custom installation Wizard, Terminal Server Tools and the Office Profile Wizard and click on Install Now:

7.When Setup is complete, click on OK

8.Go to Start, Programs, Microsoft Office Tools, Resource Kit Tools and Custom Installation Wizard.

9.At the Welcome Screen, click Next.

10.Insert the Office 2000 Installation CD (any version) into the drive.

11.Click on Browse, navigate to the <CD>\Data1.msi and click Open and Next.

12.Choose Open an existing MST file and navigate to C:\Program Files\ORKTools\ToolBox\Tools
\Terminal Server Tools\TERMSRVR.MST, click on Open and Next

13.Save the MST file to C:\WINNT\Application Compatibility Scripts\Newmarket\Install\Template\

(Overwrite if needed)

14.Insert the name of your hotel and click Next.

15.At Remove Previous versions, Make no changes and click Next.

16.Adjust the components options as appropriate and click Next.

17.NOTE: Newmarket recommendations include setting most options to Not Available including PowerPoint, Outlook, and most of the Office Tools, with the exception of the Proofing Tool.

18.Choose Get Values from an existing settings profile and navigate to C:\WINNT\Application Compatibility Scripts\Newmarket\Logon\Template\Office_2K.OPS
Newmarket provides an Office_2K.ops file with the following settings:

The Default Document location is set to H:\ and the macro security is set to Low

19.Uncheck Migrate user settings and click Next.

20.At Add files to the installation, make no changes and click Next

21.At Add Registry Entries, make no changes and click Next

22.At Add, Modify, or Remove Shortcuts, adjust the shortcuts as shown and click Next.

23.At Identify Additional Servers, make no changes and click Next.

24.At Add Installations and Run Programs, make no changes and click Next.

25.At Customize Outlook, choose Do not customize, and click Next.

26.At Customize IE 5, choose Do Not Install and click Next.

27.At IE5 Recommended, click Yes.

28.At Modify Setup Properties, make no changes and click Next.

29.At Save Changes, click Finish.

30.Place the server into Install mode as previously described.

31.at Custom Installation Wizard, highlight the command as shown, right click on it and choose Copy, then click on Exit.

32.Go to Start, Run and paste the command from the Custom Installation Wizard into the Open: box.

33.Add the CD drive letter at the beginning and click OK

34.Office will take anywhere from 2-15 minutes to install, during which time you will get no messages. You can open up Task Manager and the msiexec process is the actual installer doing its job. Alternatively, you can simply wait until the CD drive stops.

35.At the final screen, click OK.

36.Put the server into Install Mode.

37.Install Office 2000 Service Pack 2.
