  • OKCIS has a new guidance tool available called the Universal Encouragement Program, or UEP. The UEP is an internet-based guidance and assessment system that streamlines the process of getting to know your students. Students can access the UEP directly through OKCIS once it is setup by the site administrator, and staff can then access student responses and identify strengths and/or weaknesses for each individual student. We are devoting a session in GuidanceFest 2011 just for this information. Don't miss it!!

  • Unlock the Potential of Your iPad Keyboard - from Apps in Education

The iPad’s onscreen virtual keyboard is nice, it still doesn’t compare with a physical keyboard in usability. Fortunately, Apple includes some relatively hidden features which can greatly improve typing speed as well as usability on the iPad’s keyboard. In this video you’ll find out how to enable these features and use them to their full potential. (Tommi's note: Some of these work on your iPhone too.)

A free website called VuSafe is being developed that allows teachers to load and search for video clips from YouTube and other sites to use in the classroom. Pool Noodle - from School Counselor Blog

When you think of a pool noodle you probably think of a fun way to float around a pool, not school counseling. An occupational therapist uses a pool noodle to make stress relievers. Creating stress relievers out of a pool noodle is an easy and very affordable way to provide students a way of reducing anxiety and/or fidgeting. Stress relievers are also a great tactile item for students who have anger outbursts. How to video:How to Make Stress Relievers Using a Pool Noodle
