“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His Commandments: for this is the whole duty of man” (Ecclesiastes 12:13). “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for Thou hast created all things, and for Thy pleasure they are and were created” (Revelation 4:11). God’s Word, the Bible, states that you were created for the purpose of giving God pleasure by fearing Him and keeping His Commandments. Proverbs 8:13a reads “The fear of the Lord is to hate evil (sin).” Proverbs 3:7 commands “Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil (sin).” You please God and fulfill your earthly duty of fearing Him and keeping His Commandments by hating sin and choosing to depart from it. 1 John 3:4 explains “Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth (breaks) also the Law: for sin is the transgression of the Law.” Sin is breaking God’s Law, the Ten Commandments. Because you were created for the specific purpose of giving God pleasure by fearing Him (hating and departing from sin) and keeping His Commandments, your life will only have meaning, worth, and purpose if you choose to fulfill your earthly purpose of obeying God’s Law.
Have you kept God’s Commandments? God says if you have ever lied, you have broken the 9th Commandment of His Law; you are a liar and “all liars shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone” (Revelation 21:8). If you have ever had a sexual thought about anyone besides your husband or your wife, you have broken God’s 7th Commandment; you are a fornicator, an adulterer, and “neither adulterers nor fornicators shall inherit the kingdom of God” (1 Corinthians 6:9-10). If you have ever had anger or hatred in your heart towards anybody, you have broken God’s 6th Commandment; you are a murderer in danger of hellfire, who does not have eternal life” (1 John 3:15, Matthew 5:22). If you have ever focused on anything more than you have focused on God, you have broken God’s 1st Commandment, you are an idolator and “idolators shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone” (Revelation 21:8). If you have formed, or accepted, in your mind, a “god”, or “higher power”, that fits your personal beliefs and lifestyle, you have broken God’s 2nd Commandment by making a “graven image”. If you have spoken God’s Name to express anything besides devotion, you have broken God’s 3rd Commandment; you have taken the Lord’s Name in vain and will not be guiltless. If you have ever neglected to devote one entire day out of the week to do nothing except worship, praise, and thank God, you have broken God’s 4th Commandment; you are a Sabbath-breaker. If you have ever neglected to give money to, or, obey, your parents, you have broken God’s 5th Commandment; you have not honored your parents. If you have ever desired anything that belonged to somebody else, you have broken God’s 10th Commandment; you are covetous. If you have ever taken something that did not belong to you, you have broken God’s 8th Commandment; you are a thief and “thieves shall not inherit the kingdom of God” (1 Corinthians 6:10).
Because you have chosen to sin (break God’s Law) by not fulfilling your earthly duty of giving God pleasure by fearing Him and keeping His Commandments, God has blotted you out of His Book of Life (Exodus 32:33), you will die (Ezekiel 18:4), you will be judged by God for improperly using the life that He gave you (Revelation 20:11-14), and you will be cast into the Lake of Fire (Revelation 20:15).
Consider your life. It is because you have chosen to not fulfill your earthly duty of giving God pleasure by fearing Him and keeping His Commandments, that you have had no lasting fulfillment.
Think differently about and feel sorrow for the selfishness of your sin. James 1:17 states “Every good gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” Your entire existence- birth, provision through parents or guardians, growth and development, functioning mind and body, family, friends, any and every beneficial experience that you have ever partaken of- has been an undeserved gift from God. Yet you have returned His kindness by using the life that He has given you to rebel against Him and break the Laws that He gave you to protect you from the Hell that you are heading for.
Stop breaking God’s Law. Surrender complete control of your life to the One Who died on the cross and was raised from the dead to provide an acceptable sacrifice to God for your breaking of the Law, the Lord Jesus Christ of the Bible.
Renounce sin, satan, and self, forever. Follow Christ as your Master by daily reading His Word, the Bible, and obeying it, for the rest of your life.
Mostly, remember that your entire reason for being is to “fear God and keep his Commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.” Choosing to live for any other purpose is choosing to be cast into Hell.
