From the Principal’s Office:

Happy Fall!

This month’s message takes care of some needed “housekeeping,” so thank you for taking the time to read this.

With the change in temperature, I would like to remind everyone to come to school prepared for the weather. We have already had many days when hats, mittens, and heavy coats were nice to have. As always, if you would like help outfitting the kids this winter, please let us know.

Fall also brings the start of WKCE testing for our 3rd and 4th grade students. Third grade will test Nov. 5th-7th, and fourth grade will test Nov. 11th-14th. It is extremely helpful for students to come to school well rested and well-nourished for these important days as our test scores are a reflection of our school’s success on the state report card. Thank you in advance for your help with this.

Students will also be celebrating the first quarter’s reading minutes total after November 8th for our Million Minutes of Reading Challenge. They are well on their way to success and we thank you for your continued efforts at home to read, read, read with the children!

Parent/Teacher conferences are coming up on November 14th, 18th, and 19th. If you have not yet completed and returned the conference request sheet, please do so as soon as possible.

We’d also like to ask parents/guardians to provide the office with any and all new contact information. We especially need current emergency contact numbers for students.

Finally, we would like to remind all drivers of some helpful tips for dropping children off in the morning and picking up after school. In the morning, please pull all the way forward on the curb to drop the children off. When people don’t do this, traffic backs up. When traffic backs up, people get upset. Also, please use the crosswalks we painted to try and make our facility safer. As a school community, we all want our children to be safe and if we all work together, we can make a big difference. Thank you for your continued help with this.

Have a great fall and holiday season.

Cheers–

Kelly Baudhuin

Lost and Found

Dear Family members of students at OES/OLCS; we already have an alarming amount of clothing items that have been turned in to the lost and found bins throughout our school. We are doing our best to make sure students have the necessary cold weather supplies that they need in order to be protected from our fast approaching Wisconsin winter weather. We are asking that you please double check to make sure that all of your child’s belongings have their name or initials clearly marked somewhere in order to get them back to the rightful owner if they get misplaced.

Any items that have been found throughout the school have been gathered and placed on a table in the hallway outside of the school library (IMC). Please ask your child to take a few minutes to look for items that may have misplaced.

Thank you,

The Family Involvement Coordinator and Staff at OES/OLCS

Picture Retake Day is November 5th

Picture retake day is scheduled for November 5th at OES/OLCS. If you were not entirely pleased with how your child’s portrait turned out, here is your chance for a picture retake. Simply return the picture packet that you have previously received and the photographer will retake your child’s portrait. If you do not return the previous package for a retake you are responsible for paying for the portraits that you are keeping. A note was sent home with all students in their planners.

Thank you,
