Postlude

Enjoying Immanuel – This brief Christmas meditation begins by focusing on a phrase which we hear a lot each Christmas season "The true meaning of Christmas." Matthew's most insightful line in his account of the birth of Jesus is: "All this took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet: A virgin will give birth to a son and they will call Him Immanuel - God with Us!" This Christmas mediation points out simply and basically that the true message of Christmas is that we are reconciled to God in Jesus when he takes away our sin. That restored fellowship of close, personal, intimate friendship with God which Jesus makes possible is what our lonely souls crave even when we don't realize it. The longing to know God truly and sincerely in genuine friendship is the hope and fear of all the years that are met in Jesus.

Merry Christmas
