Lesson Plan for the Week of February 12, 2018

ACCOMODATIONS and INTERVENTIONS: These accommodations and strategies will be used every hour and every day as appropriate. Mrs. Cooper will redirect; use proximity; clarify directions; and repeat directions. She will encourage participation; assist with academic language; read aloud content; explain content and use inquiry to check understanding; monitor progress; and assist with organization. All IEP accommodations will be honored.
1st hour Introduction to Social Science 104 Ms. Rennison (Room 213)
Monday – Wednesday Mrs. Cooper will assist the students in the completion of the colonialism project. She will provide “tech support” and use inquiry to guide the outlines. Sentence starters, etc. will be provided. She will guide students to acceptable research resources.
Thursday Mrs. Cooper will check graphic organizers for completion. She will utilize inquiry to elicit answers. She will monitor behavior during the clip. She will also help spell words by saying the spelling or writing words on the board.
Friday Mrs. Cooper will pre-teach a few words. She will read the article with/to the class. She will elicit key ideas and concepts from the students. She will point to the correct paragraph to be reread in order to direct students to the question answers.
2nd hour World History 234 Mr. Yoho (Room 247)
Monday – Tuesday Mrs. Cooper will spot check notes for accuracy and completion. Keys will be provided if students miss too many notes. She will help students phrase answers for the reflection and encourage use of conventions.
Wednesday and Thursday Mrs. Cooper will give assistance in answering the questions on the study guide by pointing out key facts and helping with proper language use. She will point out the proper page or paragraph to read to find the answers.
Friday Test Mrs. Cooper will read any questions or words that students need help with. She will rephrase questions when appropriate. All directions will be clarified. Students will show mastery in their understanding of the age of exploration and how European countries built empires.
3rd hour World History 234 Mr. Powell (Room 143)
Monday Mrs. Cooper will help students (one-on-one or small groups) to complete the paper. Primary strategies: show the paragraph or section to reread, list major supporting facts, and rephrase the questions.
Tuesday - Friday Mrs. Cooper will walk through the room encouraging wise use of time. She will answer questions and point students toward the answer. She will check for missing work. During the K/W/L, she will emphasize key facts as “hints” to record them. Mrs. Cooper will guide students to supporting data. She will make cultural connections for the DBQ by giving examples.
4th hour American Literature/Composition 334 Mr. Wilson (Room 245)
M/W/F During the first few minutes of class (after the Bell Ringer), Mrs. Cooper will teach a vocabulary unit.
Monday- Friday Mrs. Cooper will help students choose appropriate phrases (parameters) to Google for research. Mrs. Cooper will give guidance as the students craft a thesis sentence. We will use the funnel strategy. She will encourage adherence to the conventions. Students will be given a reference sheet to aid in the formation of the working thesis. Judicious use of time will be a priority. Sentence starters may be provided for the Friday Freeewrite.
5thhour Geometry 334 Mr. Lamble (Room 237)
Monday – Thursday Mrs. Cooper will monitor progress on the worksheets. She will provide reference material as needed. She will reteach proportions as needed. She will work one-on-one and in small groups when appropriate. She will model and scaffold problems when applicable. She will monitor behavior by using proximity. She will use inquiry as well as accuracy to assess understanding. When required, she will set up the problems or provide practice examples.
Friday Mrs. Cooper will take a small group out of the room for the quiz, if deemed appropriate at that time. She will proctor the quiz.
7th hour English 134 Mrs. Poe (Room 215)
Monday Mrs. Cooper will monitor behavior during Kahoot! Review. She will rephrase answers when applicable. She will provide a study guide for some of the students, per differentiation. The study guide is on this site under resources.
Tuesday Mrs. Cooper will proctor the test. She may take a small group to the library.
Wednesday SSR During the reading, Mrs. Cooper will monitor behavior. She will randomly ask questions to gauge progress and understanding. Mrs. Cooper will monitor students who are using a variety of reading comprehension strategies, while reading a self-selected novel. Students may be asked to read aloud or answer comprehension questions during the reading. She will distribute and spot check the reading logs.
Thursday While the class read part 1 f the Odyssey packet, Mrs. Cooper will explain terms, help students categorize characters, and other strategies needed to comprehend the material. She will provide sentence starters for answers.
Friday Academic Seminar Mrs. Cooper will work with students on No Red Ink (explain/re-teach unclear concepts and confusing questions) and the reading work (point to areas of reading with the answers) as well as other missing assignments. She will try to provide mnemonic devices for each new section. Special emphasis will be on the packet completion.
