Announcements: Region 7 Summer Meeting will be Thursday, June 19th at E.B. Elliot’s in Freeport at 11 a.m. The meeting will include a USA Funds presentation on Subsidized 150%/SULA and other topics. The cost to attend will be $15.00 for region 7 members and $30.00 for non-region 7 members.

Presentation on Unusual Enrollment History: Patricia Noren , MBA, Director of Financial Aid at Nassau Community College. The presentation will be posted to the NYSFAAA website under “Training”.

Presentation on SUNY Stony Brook Independence Verification: Debra Hansen, Senior Financial Aid Advisor at SUNY Stony Brook. The presentation will be posted to the NYSFAAA website under “Training”.

Panel and Group Discussion on Verification: Panel Members: Patricia Noren, Debra Hansen, Tara Whalen and Amy Thompson.

Executive Council Update: Chris DeSousa for Gene Rogers

·  Plan to reach out to local representatives regarding NYSFAAA’s White Paper on TAP Policy Reform. Please read the White Paper which is available on the NYSFAAA website under “Resources”. We have a form letter that can be mailed or e-mailed to local reps. Looking for volunteers to assist with this effort. Chris will e-mail to the region the form letter and the list of representatives that need to be contacted. If interested, let Chris know who you plan on contacting or contacted so we can keep track.

·  Elections: Remember to vote, the polls close on May 12.

·  Conference October 2014: Survey sent around for session topics has closed. If anything of importance comes up, let Chris or Jeanne know and they will get it to the conference committee.

·  CollegeGoal NY: There will be an in-person meeting sometime in June or July. Gene will follow up with more info when he has it.

·  NY GearUp Program: Still looking for volunteers, reach out if you would like to be a part of this initiative.

·  Next Executive Council Meeting: June 13, 2014
