a day for disciples – november 1, 2014 register now!!

The staff of Ginghamsburg UMC (Ohio) will be leading us in several workshops during the day on November 1st. This training event will be for laity and clergy and will also be available as Advanced Course credit for Southeast district lay servants and CEU credits for clergy. The day will begin at 8:45 a.m. and end at 4:30 p.m. The event will take place at the Factory 12 Event Loft, 1235 Jackson Street, Columbus, IN 47201. Click herefor a registration form. Sandy Hook UMC has offered 1211scholarships for small membership churches to this event. Please call Becky if you have a financial need and wish to be considered for a scholarship. We are open to any other financially stable churches to offer scholarships as well. Deadline to register is October 15!

southeast district conference to be held november 23

District Superintendent Bev Perry has announced that the Southeast District Conference will be held on Sunday, November 23 at 3 p.m. at First UMC, 201 E. 3rd Street, Seymour, IN. At this meeting the 2015 District budget and District leadership will be reviewed/approved. In order to involve leadership from many parts of the conference, the election of delegates to General and Jurisdictional Conferences shall begin in local congregations, continue in districts, and conclude at Annual Conference. All persons interested in being considered for endorsement must complete the online “Willingness to Serve” form by October 27, 2014. More information on the process can be found at

we need your pledge for africa university

The Indiana Annual Conference committed to support Africa University through a $1.6 million campaign to endow scholarships and a Char in the School of Agriculture and Natural Resources. We thank those churches that made a commitment to support he campaign during the Annual Conference and would like those churches to now indicate the amount of their pledge. We are also asking churches who have not made a commitment to prayerfully consider making a pledge.
During a visit to Africa University in March 2015, Bishop Coyner will report on the progress we have made with the Indiana Campaign. Our goal is to have the $1.6 million pledged before Bishop Coyner visits Africa University.
If your church has not already completed a card and would like to make a pledge, please complete this Church Pledge Card and turn it in during your charge conference.

EO offering mission trip with Bishop Coyner to Africa University, Victoria Falls
Join Bishop Mike on a special Educational Opportunities trip to Africa University March 17-27, 2015. We will be presenting our gifts of an endowed Chair of Agriculture & Natural Resources and several endowed student scholarships. Tour the campus and visit Fairfield Children’s Home. Each church is encouraged to send no fewer than five people (one clergy and four laity) to represent the church at charge conference. In addition, if your work is not completed prior to your designated time frame before your charge conference convenes, you will be asked to attend a later charge conference. covenant day set for all clergy on november 11

INDIANAPOLIS - Bishop Mike Coyner, Leadership Development, and the Board and Chairs of the Indiana Conference Clergy Orders - call for a gathering of all clergy (active and retired, elders, deacons, local pastors) to cultivate our clergy covenant. According to Coyner, "This will be a Covenant Day for the clergy to worship, fellowship and focus upon our covenant together." The day-long event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 11, at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 100 West 86th Street in Indianapolis. More information will be shared as leaders prepare this event.

fall youth workers retreat scheduled at epworth forest

NORTH WEBSTER, Ind. – The Indiana Conference “Revive 2014 Fall Youth Worker Retreat” will be held Wednesday, Oct. 22, through Thursday, Oct. 23, at Epworth Forest Retreat and Conference Center, 8580 East Wesley Lane in North Webster. This retreat is for ANYONE who leads youth – pastors, church, staff, volunteer leaders, Sunday school teachers, small group leaders, etc. It is designed to help you experience a time of spiritual renewal through worship, rest, discussions and training opportunities that will send you home excited, refreshed, renewed and full of ideas for your ministry. Plus, some downtime to relax or play as you desire. Bring your whole team. Cost is $75 for the first person in your group and $50 for each additional person registered together and paid in the same group registration. Cost includes food, lodging, materials and programming. Petersville UMC – Sunday, September 7, Petersville United Methodist Church will be hosting acommunity "Tailgate Party" - the day will begin on the lawn of the church at 9 a.m. with an informal worship service led by the Rev. Andrea Lantz. A pitch-in lunch will be served at 10:30 a.m. followedby a time of fellowship and games for all agesPersons attending should bring a dish to share and their own lawn chair. Tyson UMC – Sunday, September 14 the Tyson Festival, a day of worship and festivities to celebrate the gifts to our community from James Tyson, co-founder of the Walgreens Drug Co. Vincennes University President (and former church member) Richard Helton will be the guest speaker at the 10:00 a.m. worship service. Dinner will be provided and will be followed by tours of the Tyson UM Church, Tyson Library and the Tyson Activity Center. Music Groups will perform, games and prizes for the children and Sno-Cones and Home Made Ice Cream will be available. 322 E. PURPOSE - Every congregation will be a part of a ministry cluster of 4 to 9 congregations to cooperate, collaborate, and hold one another accountable to our mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Ministry clusters are to focus on answering two core questions: 1) “How are each of our congregations doing in accomplishing our mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world?” and 2) “What can we do better and more effectively together to impact our area for Christ than we can do as individual congregations?”
