People for Cattle in India (PFCI) is a NGO formed by the Animal Lovers determined to promote Animal Welfare and prevent any form of Animal Cruelty in India. PFCI was officially started in Feb 2013. PFCI has been very active for the past 4 years.

  1. Objective(s) of APO:

To promote Animal Welfare and prevent Animal Cruelty, especially focusing on but not limited to cattle and work towards creating a social climate where animals live peacefully without exploitation and cruelty by humans and work with the ultimate aim of establishing an aware, responsible and developed society based upon mutual harmony and justice between man and animal, ensuring sustainable and holistic development with emphasis on animal rights.

  1. Details regarding infrastructure, if any, available for animals:

PFCI has an Office in Chennai, operating on the premises of the Founder’s Residence. PFCI’s Rescued Animals are sheltered with other NGOs in Chennai.

  1. Nature of ongoing work on behalf of animals, including where appropriate, numbers impacted:

The focus is on Cattle Slaughter & Trafficking. Have rescued several Cattle & also filed cases at all possible forums like High Court, NGT, SHRC Etc to bring down the abuse and cruel treatment towards Cattle.

Have made a substantial difference in the Slaughter sector, several Meat shops were shut down and the Registered Slaughter Houses are being regulated. Made huge awareness wrt Cattle transportation and after regular rescue operations, we have now brought the volume of Trafficking down.

PFCI’s signature Campaigns, The Water Bowl Challenge & Magic Collars initiative has made national news. Several Cities across the nation has partnered with PFCI to take up these 2 initiatives in their cities and helped numerous Animals.

  1. Innovativeness or ingenuity displayed in the course of work:

Innovation is our forte; we are always on the look out to bring in ideas that would help Animals. One classic example is the way we approached State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) for Animal Welfare Issues. We had much success through SHRC & got favorable orders wrt Cattle Trafficking, Dog killings etc…
