Primary Purpose of the Position
To develop U15 male players for the School Sports Australia National – Cricket Australia Carnival. The role is an important step in the Cricket Australia pathway.
To act as head coach of ONE of the NSW All Schools teams at the National Carnival.
To provide written reports on player development and progress during the Carnival.
To plan and implement match day preparation and performance at the Carnival.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee Talent Identification and Talent Development
- Coordinate the selection process of the NSW All Schools U15 trial (usually held in December each year) between CHS, CCC and CIS associations
- Work in conjunction with NSW Academy squad coaches to enable all eligible players in Metro and Country regions to attend their respective association trials
Act as Head Coach of NSW All Schools 15 Years Cricket Team at the National Carnival
- Design and implement training sessions prior to the carnival – including dates appropriate for all players and staff.
- Work closely with all coaching staff – head coach, assistant coach and tour manager, throughout the carnival
- Liaise with Cricket NSW talent manager regarding players in line for National selection in the U16 team to compete in the U17 Championships the following season
- Design and implement team strategy to promote tactical player development within your team
- Responsible for the selection process of NSW All Schools 15 Years Cricket Schools team for each game at the National Championships – taking into account team balance and fast bowling workloads
- Plan and implement warm ups and game preparation at the National Carnival
- Prepare appropriate cool down and recovery processes following each game at the National Carnival
- Complete team player profiles for the Carnival program prior to the National Championships
NSW All Schools 15 Years Cricket Relationships
- Attend ONE of the association selection trials leading up to the NSW All Schools Championships
- Attend selection process at the NSW All Schools Trial
- Attend and select the teams at the final selection trial for the National Championships – two NSW teams will be selectedfor the Carnival
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
- Qualified Secondary School teacher – currently employed in a position within a school
- Level 2 Cricket Coaching Accreditation (or international equivalent)
- Experience in coaching at Underage Representative Cricket or 1st XI School teams
- Exceptionalcommunication skills, both verbal and written
- Well-developed interpersonal skills with an ability to motivate, positively influence and build strong relationships with young players
- Capable of working independently and as part of a team with the flexibility to interact with a wide range of staff and stakeholders
Desirable
- Experience working with Athlete Management Systems (AMS)
- Experience in coaching a Representative Schools team at CHS, CCC or CIS level in the past 5 years
