NSU League Coordinator Job Description

SUMMARY

League coordinator is a pivotal role in the smooth functioning of the NSU leagues. This is the "Front" person for the league. Typically there is one coordinator for the NSU league, and the position will cover both Summer and Winter League, working in tandem with the Division Commissioners. The NSU committee oversees the role and a high degree of collaboration will be required.Ultimately, the NSU committee and the Coordinator and Commissioners are responsible to the UFNSW committee.

The position is expected to be held for a two year period, at which time the role will be re-advertised (previous and current Coordinators may re-apply).

The NSU Committee is seeking a League Coordinator to:

  • Plan the upcoming leagues and co-ordinate division specific issues
  • Collaborate with the NSU Committee, Division Commissioners and other NSU representatives as required
  • Promote and grow the NSU leagues and goodwill within the ultimate community

TASKS

  • Work with the NSU Committee to develop a calendar of all NSU events for the year, including timelines for league implementation
  • Create, advertise and maintain the webpages detailing the league rules, information, registration pages, draws and scores (with assistance from the Division Commissioners and NSU IT Officer)
  • Oversee the Division Commissioners in the fulfilment of their roles
  • Assist the NSU Fields Officer in ensuring adequate fields are booked for the needs of the league
  • Appoint and oversee volunteer Fields Persons for each season and field location who will:
  • Keep possession of cones and first aid kits
  • Bring above equipment to their respective fields venues each week, and collect it after play concludes
  • Alert the Coordinator to any issues with the above equipment (notably first aid kits needing to be restocked).
  • Be trained in first aid
  • Provide first aid at the fields if necessary
  • Ensure first aid kits are properly stocked during season, and re-stocked at the beginning of the season
  • Distribute relevant league-wide information to captains and/or players via email as required (this may include registration info, payment reminders, announcements, results, draws, league rules, changes to the league, washouts, etc),
  • Review registrations with Division Commissioners to ensure teams meet eligibility criteria and have viable rosters
  • Create draws for each division (and amend according to washouts etc) in consultation with Division Commissioners
  • Track receipt of team/player fees against registrations and follow up with captains/players to ensure fees are paid, in cooperation with the NSU Treasurer
  • Field questions from players, captains and commissioners about the division and league
  • Review any breaches of league rules with Division Commissioners and take disciplinary action if required.
  • Organise finals night within the NSU budget. This includes
  • Prizes (league and spirit)
  • Food/drinks for members
  • Attend NSU committee meetings
  • Promote the NSU league and implement strategies in conjunction with the NSU committee to grow the league.
  • Other ad-hoc tasks as required by the committee
  • Liaise with NSU Lost property officer to help deal with acquired with lost propertyfrom the NSU leagues
  • Turn on lights each week of the league as required
  • Decide each week if fields are in a suitable condition for play, and advise players in a timely manner if games are cancelled.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Current member of the NSU league
  • Relevant state Working with Children Card or Blue Card check (or willingness to obtain)
  • Knowledge of NSU league policies including league rules, division specific restrictions
  • Moderate website/IT experience
  • Not a member of the NSU committee

DESIRABLECRITERIA

  • Current First Aid certificate
  • Experience with finances
  • Experience in running a league

RENUMERATION

The role is essentially a volunteer position, but the NSU will provide

  • A $250stipend per, season paid at the conclusion of the year
  • Free league fees for the NSU winter/summer league
