Test 1-D: Nozzle Attachment with Plastic Insert Test Plan
Performed by: Mischa Dombovy-Johnson
Supervisor: Rob Kraynik
February 20th , 2014
Abstract:
The purpose of this test is to confirm the formation of a seal with our new nozzle attachment design. The design is similar in that there is still a brass attachment. However, there will be a threaded plastic insert to act as the receiving portion of the attachment. Three tests will be performed at 135 psi for over one minute each. The same set up as in Test 1-B will be used.

Test Procedure:
1. Base plate provided by machine shop. Rob Kraynik worked to make “ideal” hole locations for the De-Sta-Co clamp and Yoke fixture.
a. Drill .205” holes in base plate at marked locations.
b. Tap holes with ¼ - 20 tap.
2. Screw the ¼ - 20 screw into the brass nozzle attachment halfway.
3. Place the lock but on the screw and twist until it is tight.
4. Place the plastic insert into the brass nozzle attachment and tighten the snub screw until it is snug.
5. Screw the brass nozzle-screw-lock nut assembly into the clamp all the way.
6. Attach both the assembly and the bracket to the base plate at their ideal locations (Marked by Rob) .
7. Move the clamp into lock position (Push-Down) and ensure the brass nozzle is snug to the CFM nozzle inlet.
8. Plug in the Air Compressor to an outlet. Wait for it to “Warm-Up.” Attach the hose end to the coupler via bayonet connector.
9. Drizzle water/soap solution over the seal location.
10. Watch the area of the seal for any bubbles or suds starting to form and mark down observations.

Test Results:
Test # / Pressure (psi) / Leak / No Leak / Time1 / 135 / 1 Minute
2 / 135 / 1.5 Minutes
3 / 135 / 2 Minutes
Note: All Tests were performed in ambient conditions
