We’re half-way through this mild winter, and with spring just around the corner, it’s time to prepare for another season at Nottaway Swim Club - Opening Day is Friday, May 25!
The NSC board believes that our neighborhood pool is a great place for our community to come together, and NSC members believe this as well. Our end of the season survey revealed that more than 90% of you were very happy with the facility and how it is being managed. The NSC board pledges to maintain this level of service and quality through 2012.
We are busy preparing for this summer, which will include another fun and exciting swim team season – go Newts! And for another season, we will maintain our membership rates at last year’s levels. Unlike many other neighborhood pools, we will continue with no initiation fees for new memberships. We have also created a Capital Improvement Committee thatis currently at work evaluating different options for improving our pool property – look for plans and specifics in the near future.
To get things rolling, April 14th is our annual Nottaway Work Day, where we all come together to clean and prepare the facility for the Newts swim practice and the summer pool season. We hope you will join us and look forward to seeing you this summer at the pool.

Note: A Family Membership is required for participation on the Nottaway Newts Swim Team.

**Out-of-town house guests are included with all membership levels at no additional charge;
$3/person/visit guest fees apply to all other guests. Limit: 5 visits per guest per season.

Our fine print is simple:The NSC annual membership is a one-time cost with no initiation fees or hidden monthly charges. NSC By-Laws state that one is not considered a member until their membership fees are paid in full. NOTTAWAY NEWTS SWIM TEAM
After such a successful season the Newts had last year we are very excited about the swim season this year. We would love to have new swimmers and all the “old” swimmers back. Please come join us Sunday April 22 from 2pm-4pm at Nottaway Pool for swim team registration with an informational meeting and ice cream social.
Practices:
We will startevening practices Monday through Thursday starting May 1 -24. Morning practices will begin May 30 and continue through June 18. On May 30 evening practice will be offered for those kids who cannot make the morning session because their school is still in session. All others, please talk to the head coach. There will be more detailed practice times at the registration meeting.
Meets:
We will have five meets this year all held on Tuesday evenings. (5/22, 5/29, 6/5, 6/12, 6/19). County is a huge meet and we would love to see all the kids attend, held this year on the Thursday and Friday before the 4th of July at Emory. These are all tentative dates; affirmative dates will be given at registration. On 5/17(tentative) we plan on having an inter-squad meet to help everyone learn where to go and what to do. This will be low pressure and a lot of fun.
Volunteers:
As always we need parental involvement to make our program a success. We’ll have volunteer opportunities at all meets, Dinner and A Dip nights, Fourth of July, Swim-A-Thon, and other activities. Thanks in advance for your help. Our swim meets and fundraising efforts would not be possible without it. We will have a sign-up sheet at the registration meeting. Come early to get your volunteer spots.
Fees:
Swim team fees will be $55.00 for the first child, $50.00 for the second, and $45.00 for each additional child; this is the same as last year (As always swimsuits are an additional charge). We had a lot of success with sponsors paying for free T shirts for the swimmers and plan on doing the same this year. If you know of any local businesses or individuals that might be willing to sponsor the Newts, please let us know so we can build the T shirt fund coffers.
