Electrical Contracting Industry Award R 22 of 1978

Electrical assistant:

Electrical Assistant mean an employee directly assisting any other employee covered by this award.

Electronics Industry Award No. A22 of 1985

Trainee installer:

an employee engaged as such and who is being trained in connection with the installation or wiring of electronic equipment, provided that:

(i) any work in the nature of fault diagnosis, testing, adjusting and commissioning which is complex in nature shall be the work of service people and above;

(ii) no trainee installer less than 18 years of age shall be engaged on construction work as defined in sub clause (9) hereof without the unions' written permission.

Engineering Trades (Government) Award, 1967 Award Nos.29, 30 and 31 of 1961 and 3 of 1962

Engineering Employee - Level I:

An employee at this level performs routine duties essentially of a manual nature and to the level of his/her training and in addition -

  • Performs general labouring and cleaning duties.
  • Exercises minimal judgement.
  • Works under direct supervision.
  • Is undertaking structured training so as to perform work at C 13 level.

Gate, Fence and Frames Manufacturing Award

Tradesperson’s assistant (on-site installing of gates and fences)

Erector's Assistant means an employee directly assisting an erector in the erection of hand rails, fencing, gates and enclosures of any description.

Materials Testing Employees’ Award 1984

Limited to on-site work. Does not include laboratory work.

Trainee Technical Assistant - mean an employee undergoing training in destructive or non-destructive testing or metallurgical analytical techniques and who is engaged in and restricted to Level I duties.

Technical Assistant - mean an employee engaged in technical activities involving metallurgical analyses, destructive or non-destructive testing techniques at a level included in Level II duties as defined.
