NOTICE FOR DSRA BI-ANNUAL ELECTION 2017-18

I, Engr. Anwar ul Haq Siddiqui, Member DSRA, have been appointed as Election Commissioner to hold Biannual Election for the 2-Years Term: 2017-18 of Defence Society Residents Association (DSRA), Karachi, do hereby give this notice that the following Office Bearers and Members of Central Executive Committee (CEC) will be elected for the Term: 2017-18 in accordance with the DSRA Articles of Association as amended from time to time:

-President -Vice-President (Male) -Vice-President (Female)

-Hon. General Secretary-Hon. Joint Secretary - Hon. Treasurer

- Members CEC (Gentlemen): 6 - Members CEC (Ladies): 5

The schedule for election will be as follows:

  • Receipt of Nomination Papers :Saturday 11th March, 2017 by 4.00 p.m
  • Scrutiny of Nomination Papers:Monday 13th March, 2017 by 4.00 p.m
  • List of Eligible Candidates on Board:Monday 13th March, 2017 by 5.00 p.m
  • Withdrawal of Candidates:Wednesday 15th March, 2017 by 4.00 p.m
  • Final List of Candidates on Board :Wednesday 15th March, 2017 by 6.00 p.m
  • Printing of Ballot Papers Completed:Tuesday 21st March, 2017 by 5.00 p.m
  • Balloting for Election :Sunday 26th March, 2017 Start 4.00 p.m

Close 6.30 p.m

  • Vote Counting and Result Announcement: 10.00 p.m

The interested DSRA members may collect Nomination Form from the DSRA registered office. Duly completed Nomination Form along with a CNIC copy of the nominee, proposer and seconder; and a pay order of Rs.5,000 (Rupees five thousand only) in favor of ‘Defence Society Residents Association’ or in cash, may be filed with Hon. General Secretary by 11th March, 2017 up to 4.00 pm at the DSRA registered office. Candidates withdrawing his/her nomination by the above-stated scheduled date and time will be refunded the nomination fee.

During the election all members will be required to produce their CNIC or any other official document with photograph. Voting will not be allowed without proper identification. A registered voter must have cleared his annual fees dues up to the year 2017.

ANNEXURE-A

NOTICE FOR BI-ANNUAL ELECTION

EXTRACTS FROM DSRA ARTICLES OF ASSOCIATION

4(a). The one time entrance fee for Life Membership shall be Rs. 1,000/- (Rupees One Thousand Only) payable in advance. Members shall however be required to pay annual Subscription of Rs. 200/- (Rupees Two Hundred Only).

4(e). All Office Bearers and Members of the Central Executive Committee shall contribute Rs.500/- and Rs. 400/- per month respectively to meet the day to day expenses of the Association.

4(f). Nomination fee for all the candidates for an elected position in the DSRA shall be a non-refundable fee of Rupees Five Thousand (Rs.5, 000/-) only.

6(a). The Candidate for the office of the President shall qualify for election only after having been an office bearer or member of Central Executive Committee for a period of two years at least and should be a minimum 40 years of age.

6(b) The candidate for membership of the Central Executive shall qualify for election or co-option only after having been enrolled as Life Member for a period of at least two years and have paid all arrears of contribution and outstanding dues as determined by the CEC and duly recorded in minutes of the meeting of CEC.

11(f) Members in arrears shall not be entitled to attend or participate in any meetings of the Association or its Central Executive Committee.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR ELECTION 2017-18

  1. No banners, distribution of pamphlets or canvassing will be allowed within the boundary walls of the DA Creek Club, declared as Voting Zone at 4.00 p.m onwards.
  2. Before the commencement of voting, empty ballot boxes will be shown and sealed in the presence of those candidates who would like to witness.
  3. At the time of voting no candidate or other unauthorized person will be allowed to enter the Voting Area in the DA Creek Club.
  4. Voting will commence at about 4:00 p.m and all those who have entered the registration area by 6:00 p.m will be allowed to register and vote.
  5. Vote counting will commence immediately after all votes have been cast.
  6. The candidates or their authorized representatives will be allowed to be present during the counting to note the number of votes cast in their favor.
  7. The DSRA Members in general and the Contesting Members in particular are requested to maintain a good order of decorum worthy of their high standing in the DHA community.
