Group (s): / Students will learn the difference between a landscape painting and other types of paintings. / Students will discuss and learn about the famous artist George Seurat. / Students will observe and learn the wet on wet technique using water color paints. / Students will discuss and observe the stippling technique of painting or drawing. / Students will discuss and observe the style of art known as pointillism.
Guided Practice
(We Do) / Teacher will discuss, direct and assist students in how to identify pictures that contain landscape art work. / Teacher will discuss, assist and direct students in the proper way to identify the artworks of George Seurat. / Teacher will discuss, assist and direct students in the correct way to create a wet on wet background for a landscape painting. / Teacher will discuss, direct and assist students with the technique of stippling to create a final 2-d painting copying the style of Georges Seurat.. / Teacher will discuss, direct and assist students to teach them what the famous art style of pointillism is.

Independent Practice (You Do) / Students will view works of the artist George Seurat and take notice of the stippling techniques used. Students will also view magazines and cut out two different landscape pictures. / Students will review George Seurat and begin to create an artwork that contains the combination of the two landscape’s they have chosen. Today they will draw the first sketch for the paint that will be applied tomorrow. / Students will use the wet on wet technique to add the background colors of their painting. It will match the colors of the magazines which they picked earlier in the week. / Students will use markers of various colors to use the stippling technique to add the details to their paintings. / Students will complete the assignment and differenciate between the meaning of stippling and pointillism.
Stippling is the technique used, pointillism is the style which is created when using the technique of stippling.

Notes: Students are working on a variety of skill levels in all classes.

Early finishers will be working on a variety of practice assignments to improve and enhance their drawing skills, burnishing techniques, thought process, and overall art experience. They will also be given special assignments such as working with Mrs. Parker, Mr. Wilson and myself on the creation of wall murals throughout the school.

Remedial workers will be given more time to complete assignments (at home or during study hall, or during class if attendance to study hall is not possible.)
