Draft Power of Attorney by Sir John Barrington to John Kendall of Hatfield Broad Oak gent authorising him to compound and agree with Sir William M (?asham) and Sir Thomas H ( ?ewitt) trustees of Mary Barrington, widow, who have commenced a Bill in Chancery against Sir John Barrington for 2 annuities of £20 , or, in default of an agreement to prosecute the same by appeal, petition or otherwise, as councel learned in the law shall advise.

Copy of Lady Judith Barrington’s exceptions against John Kendall’s Bill for Sir Tim Tyrrell which I sent to Sir Thomas Hewett.

Kendall claims expences incurred on behalf of Sir Toby Tyrrell who married 2ndly Lucy, the daughter of Sir Thomas Barrington (died 1614) and apparently in connection with lands settled for his marriage.

Lady Judith disputes expenses and will make a matter of proceedings unless Kendall “ will surrender the land voluntarily or not, I refusing to except of his p{ro}position, to pay the bill”..

…” he ( Kendall) may Challenge all the money he laid out for my husband; I being the manager of all things and usually what he did was by me Command as from my husband”

Letter form William Bayson of “Melendine” ( Manuden) to { John} Kendall with a copy of the latter’s reply, concerning the seizure of a grey mare as felon’s goods. Kendall raises the question whether in law “ Fealons good{es} cann be Carryed out of ye hundred {Half hundred of Clavering} here { Hatfield Broad Oak Half Hundred of Harlow} they are seized before ye p{ar{ty by Convit” and states that “I have sent to Mr Humfrey on Robt Hill to p{ro}vide Keeping for her till after yo Assizs” also” I have sent you a warrant under Sr Jo: Barrington’s hand for seazing all other Fealons good{es} wayfes Estrayes and c w{I}th in the hundred but I pray you be Carefull to Keepe a booke w{ha}t you seaze and the tyme of the seasure and loging of them”
