NOTE: If this application is for a domestic extension the section overleaf regarding glazing must be completed.
If you are proposing to build a domestic extension, then total area of new windows, roof lights and external doors as a proportion of the floor area of the extension should not exceed 25%.
You are advised to check that the areas of windows, roof lights and external doors proposed will not exceed 25% of the extended floor area.
Please complete shaded boxes
(a) / What is the total internal floor area of the proposed extension? / m2(b) / What is the total area of new windows / external doors to the proposed extension? / m2
(c) / What is the area of existing windows / external doors removed in order to form any opening between the extension and existing house, if any? / m2
Subtract (c) from (b) and divide the answer (a) and finally multiply by 100. If the final answer exceeds 25, it is recommended that you reduce the proposed area of windows, roof lights and external doors.
Where the proposed extension exceeds the 25% limitation, you may only be able to justify the scheme by appointing a registered energy consultant to prepare an energy performance report for the extension, using the UK Government's Standard Assessment Procedure for Energy Rating of Dwellings (SAP 2005).
